Back on 1972 I had a similar situation with my GTX 1969 4SPDS, it started with the ignition switch and lights switch while its started cold it worked fine at daytime but at night lights and engine one or the other went off. When checking the main plug from the firewall to th inside the cables were kind of /burnt out replace all wire connectors and problem solved. Check those and the choke. carburetor. I change the carburetor from an electric choke to a Holley manual one and worked fine.
