I'm writing an article and I'm having a brain fart. What do some people call a car that has been made up to be something more than what it is. The word I'm thinking of is like a dedication, but I can't pinpoint it.
Help

Whatis a clone called....seriously???

Fill in the missing vowel.

With all these American Muscle Experts out there , and all these hot rods being built to run on the street or in a class for NHRA racing, which my 63 Dodge Polara with an aluminum nose was, I had the pleasure of running into a clown with a shop in either Penn State or New York that kept refering to my car as a "FAKE" over the internet. I really never even called it a clone or a tribute, I called it a class racer. I have been told by other dealers since, that the guy was a Know it all Cheevy guy. Go figure.

B-Jackson likes to use the term " re-creation". Makes it sound more expensive! !!

Clone, tribute, re-creation, continuation, copy or facsimile's {some would even say a fake, I don't like that mentality} I like tribute or clone, least derogatory... it's someone's pride & joy... or sometimes it's just cool, less expensive, more affordable car, that looks similar to factory type car... as long as they don't try to sell/pass it off as something it's not... their all good with me...

One of the dealers I know told me that he calls them "tributes" because he thinks that calling them "clones" is like calling them "fakes'. I don't agree with him, but he's an example of people having different ideas of what these labels mean. If I had a car that was cloned, I wouldn't have any problem with that tag.

I am building a 1965 Dodge Coronet, Hemi etc. will look a lot like an A990 car but with some different things that I prefer. I am not trying to pass it off as a clone, a tribute car or anything else and I really don't give a tinkers damn what anybody calls it or thinks about it for that matter. Just my 2 cents

More fun than a 1 of 1 trailer queen that never gets driven.....

You can mock tributes/clones/fakes, I can mock trailer queens and guys who dump $50k into a car they don't even know how to drive or are just afraid to.

It's a fun hobby, not a political party. Take the hate to moparts.

I got one clone here..mainly because I could not afford the real thing....I drive the hell out of it

Funny thing, the guys that quickly point out that it's a clone are the guys with "check-book cars" that never see the road or a full tank of gas

whatever you want to call it, I would take it everyday, and twice on sunday...

what brakes are on the front of that convertible??

I'll take it too. That said, tribute vs clone is like global warming vs climate change. Both bull$hit terms.

That is the "Birdable" and it is MoparStuart's car. not quite sure what he's got for brakes, but I know he was doing a giant overhaul on the car as of late...
