Help with setting the preload on the axle bearings

I can't find any info on setting the bearing preload on a Dana 60 rear axle, for a car.
What is the procedure to set the adjuster for the tapered bearings?

It states in the service manual how to perform that........

go to mymopar and download one....
 
I got the service manual for the '62 Dart but no dana's in there. Is it the same preload as the 8 3/4?
Just download a 68/69 manual and follow the setup for the dana in them.....

IIRC they are the same for the end play....
 
Definitely in the manual and for my 8 3/4 it says 0.008 to 0.018. This is my 8 3/4, but Dana same deal for set up. Get the spec for play on the Dana and make sure you tap the axles back and forth from each side as you set it up.

The manual I downloaded also says .008-.018 for 8 3/4. No Dana info.
But a tapered bearing is a tapered bearing, I hope??? so I'm going to shoot for the same numbers.

The Dana and the 8 3/4" use the exact same bearing and housing end so the adjustment procedure is the same.

Don't like posting info that's bogus, this is out mymopar 66 service manual, I wouldn't run Over the .018 in other posts. Set mine .013. This isn't to get into a pissing contest.

Chrysler tightened up the end play sometime after 1967, to .008 to .018. I would lean towards the low end of this.
 
Thank you. I have a little more work then planned. The adjuster is on the passenger side of the car. Am I correct that the passenger side axle is the right side axle?
 
I just looked at my 71 shop manual, and it has the dana listed at .008 to .012. Slightly different from the 8/34, for some reason.

You are correct. Reminded me of a discussion over odd and even part numbers with two guys last summer at a car show that swore up and down that the right side of a vehicle is when you are standing in front looking at the vehicle the right side is on the same side as your right arm. I said, "No, it is when you are sitting in the driver seat it is the same side as your right arm". One of them piped up and said. "What if you are in the passenger seat"? We did agree that the even number was for the right side though.

I found out the hard way that 426 hemi pistons (OEM) don't follow that particular rule!

Ok, so the adjuster is supposed to be on the right side but you use the dial indicator on the left side, to check for end play? correct?
