Buddy of mine wound up with a set of Hemi heads in a parts deal.... Pretty sure they came from a back in the day local SS racer... I'm thinking they were just used for testing, clearly the exhaust ports are raised & there was some experimenting with the flame travel...

Gawd… hemi parts get hammered.

any stampings, numbers etc marked on them?
Nope... I've seen a few other sets like this.... Added fins in the intake port, dimpled chambers.... Just trying stuff to see what sticks..

Tignanellis had a bunch of really cool experimental stuff, that they been slowly selling off. Engelhart bought a bunch of stuff, a year or two ago.
I'm sure Jim is still selling stuff, now that Tom is gone....

Steve Atwell would be a good source on the race stuff, he has some good experience with those parts. As you mention they have some interesting modifications.

Cork Bliss, a Hemi Pro Stock builder/racer from the 70's told me that his motors made more power with the single spark plug in the rear hole of
a dual plug head.
Of course this was before they were allowed to run dual plugs and distributors.

This must be what they were trying to do to improve flame travel.

The dimples are interesting. I've seen dimples on diesel pistons that are suppose to increase turbulence and increase efficiency. The groove reminds me of the groove in the dome of the piston I think was in the Chrysler performance book before dual plugs.

I don't like the head trench mod , "If" I were going to try that it would be on the pistons , not the head !!!

dimples would create a hot spot and cause dieseling ????
