I'm replacing the original Carter 4 BBL with a new Holley Ultra Street avenger on my 96 Plymouth. The car has a 383 with an auto transmission. The mechanic thinks I need an additional linkage mounting kit. OK, but I'm not sure what to get -- so many little kits and brackets are available. I guess the throttle and the auto trans need to connect. Is it obvious what I need?

Question 2. I know he is probably going to try to connection the coil ignition source to the electric choke -- but Holley says this is not correct due to reduced voltage to the coil.

So where should the 12 volt source be connected to once the ignition switch is turned on?

You can get power to the choke from the ballast resistor wire that gets power when key on. Don't draw from the coil. You should be able to use factory linkage for the Holley. Usually it's the fords that need a different throttle linkage but it would be easier to tell with pics of the carb on your engine. If the intake manifold isn't stock it is possible your linkage will need to be longer.

I didn't buy any of that but I also didn't use a stock linkage. I used the Bouchillion kickdown linkage and throttle cable plate so that maybe why I didn't buy any of those.

Thanks for all your help. I ordered the 20-7. Keep in mind that I don't have the car to look at. The 20-7 has 2 holes to bolt to the carb lever, and it has one more hole for the throttle cable. How does the transmission cable connect? Does it go right with the throttle, or does it connect somewhere else?

I can't find a good picture of this anywhere. I need to have the answers because my mechanic experiments and learns on my dollar!
