media blasting my car- for some reason their is a full 3/16" of bondo on the lower part of the doors (prob the rest of the car too) but no rust or deformities to speak of with the exception of the deletion of the body trim. Crazy!

Only 3/16???? lol Here are a few pics of mine and what I found. My bondo was anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch in some spots.

My opinion is that this much bondo is from 40 years of minor fender bender repairs performed by the bodyshop of the insurance companies choosing.

or somebody trying to straighten out a wavy panel, using filler, like a full skim coat, with out doing any metal work 1st

'Cave-N-Pave'

If you have that filler on a clean panel, likely one of the adjoining panels was hit, and they 'paved' the others to match.
Just be thankful all you have to do is grind through some bondo to reveal a clean/straight panel underneath. :)
