Home Run ??

Look at the parting line on the rear of the crank, wide=steel and narrow=cast

Cool beans Mitch! Not everyday folks hand out 440's and 340's. Both are starting to get hard to find, especially the 340's. Let us know how it pans out on the small block. Big block sounds like a winner, and one would guess from what you're saying, that it's a forged crank.

I had a similar thing happen to me before I even owned a Mopar (knew I'd eventually get my Charger). A co-worker knowing I was a Mopar fan informed me his sister in law was selling a 440 for $200.00 so I made arrangements to have a look. Turns out he was into racing, the block was a 71 along with all of the good stuff including forged crank, brand new high rise intake (can't remember brand) and 2 sets of 906 heads. A little poking around revealed a box of parts (allot of distributors) and a complete 727. I went home with everything for $250.00! Good luck with your find.
