Are they rusty? bent? springs weak? I'd be inclined to replace them. You can put new springs on VERY carefully with a pry bar from what I recall.
I suggest you take a look at the adjustment like others are saying. There are 4 big bolts that attach the hinges to the inner fender area (2 on each hinge). Maybe those are out of adjustment? I think that's where most of the hood adjustment is. The hood/hinge bolts are pretty much front/back & angling the hood left/right. These other hinge/fender bolts I'm talking about adjust the up/down, especially in the back of the hood. Not rusty, Beeper. In fact, they're painted and on my car. But my friend who is helping me out since I'm not home says the back sticks up, probably needing a rebuild. I thought they were rebuilt but can't remember. Wish I was home to see first hand but duty calls for now
Yeah,I think its sometimers for me. I was trying to adjust my hood some 5-6 years ago now and I read somewhere that you need to "raise (yes raise ) the hinges" to get the hood to lay down. I tried it and yes it worked. It helped to have somebody hold the hood while it is adjusted.
