My last year of High School, I bought an American Pontiac Catalina, with TriPower 345/389 and 3-speed manual, with $$$ earned working in Southern Ontario's tobacco fields. This Wide Track car was a rare sight in Ontario, where our Pontiacs were basically Catalina bodies mounted on a Chevrolet chassis. My 3 carbs were all covered by a huge air cleaner, similar to the one shown on the Buick. I likely should have kept this one, but who knew these old cars would be worth anything. I sold it to buy my first Mopar; a 1962 Dart 2-door sedan. Some shots from today's car show:
Crossram maxwedge in a 69 RR
Gen 1 Hemi.... in a Studebaker wagon! (My favorite car at the show)
Tripower 406/4sp in a 63 Galaxie
Tripower Holleys, w progressive linkage and three accelerator pumps, on a small block chevy. I'd never seen one before! (Carbs spaced wider than a big block mopar! I should have looked at the manifold more)
Tripower on a 59 Bonneville, gorgeous survivor car.
Dual quad Grand Sport 65 Riviera.
