How important is a A12 wingnut ?

Here compared to the shinny repops and the difference in the year nuts.

@fastmark, thanks for posting the originals as compared to the current reproductions. As people can see, there is a noticeable difference for those who look

@MecGen, not pointing you out. Just pointing out that there are slight differences to the reproductions that everyone sells vs the originals as posted by @fastmark.

Btw. There is a guy on eBay selling NOS wing nuts that are even black phosphate coated like originals. The only problem is they are NOT NOS. They are just the current repops with some black, still tacky, coating on them. $6.00 each. I left him neutral feedback on it with a warning. At least eBay printed it. He did not respond. Moparforum is his name I think.

Great picture! With washers no less! I like. Is this a 69 or 70? Those appear to be just like my 70 six pack originals on my 440 and 340

Exactly...this is from my buddy's 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst car...

BTW...I recall seeing this so-called correct wingnut that this thread is about in my collection of spare nuts & bolts.
Finally found that wingnut I mentioned earlier....I hope it is a Mopar nut..... @dadsbee

Not sure if this helps or not, but here is a shot of the nut and washer on my 70. It’s 2 different pieces, a12 cars may be different.

We had a red Ford Pinto many years ago - maybe a 1970 or 71? It had a trunk rather than a hatchback. Anyway, it was a good little car. We really never had any trouble with it (and luckily, never got hit in the back!!! :p )

For all the bad press they got they really were decent little cars... The engine saw duty in allot of vehicles including the SVO Mustang, the Turbo Coupe Thunderbirds, the Merkur XR4TI, Ranger trucks all the way up to 2011...
The front suspension was grafted on to countless street rods, hell they cloned it & put it on everything including Mopars...

That looks like the first 6 Pak I bought. But it wasn't "all original", the center carb had been replaced. But the intake, end carbs and air cleaner assembly appeared to be OEM A12 parts. The air filter was a Mopar part, still had the drain hoses on the base. My recollection of the wing nuts look like the one in MecGen's pic's.
