Gee Bud, you must have been right on the edge for 1 Blue pump. In those days I ran 2 Blue pumps on 2x650 DP tunnel, not for added flow, but reliability. Switched to a single Mallory 140. Plenty of flow there.
yeah I'm sure it was too...
never burned anything up, fuel volume wise anyway
I kind of cheated, had a smaller return line #6
seemed to keep the fuel in the bowls
most the time they recommended the same size return line as feed
when the bigger pumps started coming out (like the Barry Grants)
I ran CNC pumps, with #10-#12 feed no 90's,
only straight, Y's or 45's fully flowed, chamfered & an #8-#10 return
they would produced 2-3-4 time as much fuel as I ever needed,
even with 1300+hp NA
even for dual 1350 cfm with bowl extensions
or even 4) x 2bbl 700+cfm 'split dominators'
most of it, all bypassed back to the cell,
IMO that was the critical setting
I always ran the float bowl levels a tad higher levels
(
like 2 flats more -higher- after it flowed out of the float site level ports or
bottom of the glass sites, to make up for more demand when running WOT)
than Holley, BG or QA1 recommended too
also really need to have good extended longer vent tubes
or hose between the 2 vents per carb, with a 1/2" notch cut in, it's middle
I always set my stuff regulator/s (bypasses & pressures) flowing,
never static or deadheaded, still do even on my street-strip cars today
