Hughes Whiplash Roller cam - Idle video

Holy sh!t that sounds ****!

You have just convinced me to get cutouts! haha

The best thing about the QTP ones..You can 'just' crack them and route most of the exhaust to the back but still turn heads on the street. I ran them like that all day yesterday including past cops..turned heads, no blue lights! ;)

I like to walk softly and carry a big stick :D I generally advance my cams a few degrees. It produces torque lower down plus smooths up the idle some. Lumpy cams sound cool and all but they just scream out I'm bad and that's not what I'm looking for. I'm also curious about what the cylinder pressure differences are when they are set straight up vs advanced 4 degrees.....

We are going to dyno it at some point..But it's making plenty of torque down low..

HI all,

I'm getting questioned about the drop base and air cleaner setup.

I will take photos tomorrow and make some measurements for you all.

I can say that I changed my stock linkages to LOKAR for both throttle and kickdown. Their setup takes up way less space and meant I could just hook up to the stock Holley linkages etc.

With a later closing intake event, they'll be lower.....

OK,

Here are photos of my Drop base air cleaner etc.

My element is a standard 3" tall 14" diameter one.

Another Question for ya Tek, Did you flip the coil bracket and cut off the other side of the bracket or is that something you bought ?

I'm pretty sure this is the one you have. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-1221/overview/

Edelbrock states it's only a 0.625" drop. I suppose they figure if your using a 3" filter you will have 2.375" open.

Like this 20100922_AirCleaner_0308.jpg

This is what a 1.5" drop does.. Reducing the open area of the filter to 1.5" 20100922_AirCleaner_0307.jpg

Yep I flipped the bracket for the coil mate. I am going to paint it at some point, but this worked better than we expected so for now I am going with it.

My mate had so many drop bases to choose from in stock, so I really do not know which one he chose. But it looks a lot like that summit one you posted.

Well for the guys that don't live in the US and muscle cars are more of a rare sight; I can tell you that any muscle car gets seen as performance. So there is no such thing as a 'stealth' muscle cars here.

Plus paying a fk load more for having one and all the extra heartache and time sourcing and building one of these in a country that never had them, you don't want a limp d*$k sound out of your pipes. You want the full muscle car experience. That's the aggressive performance styling, the throaty roar, thump in your chest and the presence to make eco-boxes cry. If all I wanted to do was go fast and turn good, most modern cars can do that a lot better for a lot less $$ and a lot less BS.

For me, if mothers don't clutch at their kids in fear, young women swoon or men gork like they're seeing a naked women for the first time when they see / hear it, then its a fail.

Each to their own yeah?
