Who do you drive for? What are you driving, a Prostar?

Sounds more like the humans can't communicate with the computer while the computer is having problems communicating with the vehicle. Sounds like a headache.
A lot the problem is the humans aren't mechanics anymore. They are "techs' who only know how to do what the computer tells them to do.

A crack in insulation? Moisture in one of the wiring plugs? It all plays heck with those blasted ‘puters’. Couple broken copper strands in the wire! Nothing plays well, and then there’s all that moisture getting thrown everywhere while rolling down the road.

LT625. We have the X15 Cummins but they set them at 350hp. What the hell??
Just hauling gas for a regional c-store chain. Used to run over the road but switched to this when kids got into high school and sports.

I'm sure that a lot of you recall that I bought a new Peterbilt this spring.

Well, I have been having a lot of "check engine" issues with the Pete. The dealer tried, unsuccessfully to fix it three times. They seem to think that the problem is a pinhole in the wiring...SOMEWHERE!! After numerous arguments with Paccar, they agreed to buy me out in full and put me in a 2019 W-900L. This truck is a BEAST!!!

awesome Rig

glad to hear they made it good too

What kinda mileage you get with the big rig?? My little Hino gets 7 to 8 MPG.........
So far, I have been averaging between 5.2-5.6 MPG. I know that I can improve on that, I just have to stay outta the throttle and get used to the truck. It's nice being able to pull a hill loaded like most guys do empty, but that's where the fuel mileage goes in the toilet. I have to get used to setting the cruise control and let the computer take over the fuel economy. Easier said than done. :steering:

i disagree some of us out here still use the basic wrenches to make them run. the peterbuilt boys didn't happen to mention that the computer was in fault mode do to the input wire to the def system was broken or the fact that the 7 injector wasn't coming on to do a passive regen while you were driving. but its true most of the (techs) today can;t even figure out if a injector giving you problem unless the laptop tells them. ironbuilt cruz will help with the hills and fuel find out if your hp changes also when your in cruz. be careful with the def fuel pumps also they clog up and next thing your down on the road. really like the rig looks great happy black topping

I know that there are still some great mechanics out there @bearman, unfortunately, they are getting to be a rare breed. How do I find out if my HP changes when in CC?

did you get the soft ware package with the truck. if you did you can down load it on your lap top and it will tell you. if you didn't get it have the service dept run your v.i.n and give you the specs it will say it under cc. also are you hooked up real time with eye in the sky. if you are you should get a code and you can call if you are having problems and kw can troubleshoot as you are going down the road. also did you get a price break as to parts and service outside of warranty. in some cases they will give your business a 3% or higher discount on parts.

I did not get the software package wit the truck, but that is something that I have already inquired about. I am hooked up real time and I do get a small discount outside of warranty. I would like to be able to access the computer and read the codes and set the parameters myself, but the plugs and software are really expensive.

you should have a override switch most of them will put out a flash code. read the flashes and compare to flash card that came with the cummins. it will give you a heads up. but if you are real time use your eye in the sky. also you can get the plug from cummins or kw this is a tool and can be taken off your taxes.
