I think that a member requests a start date and the payments are supposed to coincide with that date. If the member requests January 1st and the processing takes until March, they supposedly pay retroactively. I don't know if this applies to a "penalty delay" for working Non Union. For that, I am not clear as to what they do.
Hey KD, Just a suggestion, but try calling the US Dept. of Labor. They're responsible for maintaining Pension info. that is reported to the SSA. I just went thru this, as I've recently retired. I'll dig thru my paperwork and try to find you a contact name and number. This link may help with your current situation. https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/e...and-compliance/reporting-and-filing/form-5500
Thank you. I just saw this now but guess what? The Social Security paperwork came today. I can now start my application process. I'll probably fill everything out this weekend after making copies of everything for my own files. *************************************************************** It was a strange thing. Today while I was at work, the Wife messaged me to say the paperwork had finally arrived. I had a weird feeling for the rest of the day. It was like a dog that chased cars and one day, the car stopped and he caught it....not sure of what to do next. I enjoy this job I'm doing but I really like my time off too. My main employer since 1988 had periods of down time between jobs and I got used to that. I liked the time in between jobs. It gave me a chance to get stuff done on the cars and house. Other companies seem to be busier and time off is a bit scarce. Once I retire, I'll be able to work some without affecting the pension payments. I'll enjoy that.
You're welcome KD. Sorry I didn't come back with the name & number. Been looking but I couldn't find it. Hope things come together for you.
It's a BIG move and it's tuff to just walk away from what has been your normal life for many years. Having a weird feeling for the rest of the day would be an understatement. I get it. If they allow you to get a few hours in, that may prove to be best for you. Either way enjoy!!
Congrats KD on going forward with your retirement. I felt the same way after 40 years in I.T. managing data centers. I retired last year Sept. and I am enjoying the extra time being able to putz around on the car and the house here and in Florida and doing more traveling. I do work part time at Home Depot and enjoy the flexible schedule. I just tell folks to go to Lowes. The best part is all of the automotive events that I can attend now. Love it! You will too.
Stop crying and get to work so the rest of us that are retired can be assured a monthly check from social security. Selfish bastards!! Lol. Actually, thanks.
If you have not at least replaced yourself there should be no paid SS pyramid scheme retirement. Pretty sure my parents spent my money long ago. I am spending my kids. If they are lucky the grandkids will pay theirs.
I paid in the maximum yearly amount for over twenty years and my daughter maxes out every year since she started working and will till she retires. We're doing all we can!! LOL. Luck has nothing to do with it, SS will always be there in one way shape or form, I promise.
363 days left to retirement. It's actually come up faster than I thought. I suspect on day 364? The entire work force of the United States will quit citing. "I ain't paying one more cent for this lame dick living off society Social Security!"
55 days left here and now they asked me too stay on ! My answer is like in the movie jerry McGuire with tom cruise “show me the money!
I do take 4.5 percent from my 401k each year plus social security . Which is 4% of plus 2400 social.62,000 plus2000 ss
