What's it Worth I need help with a reasonable valuation

Before I bought the Sleeper Bee ( Coronet 440 ) I have one already that I've owned for 40 years ( 318 a/c car ) but it needed restoring so 5 years ago I started pricing parts
-it needed trunk and floor pans rear quarters and valence - motor was toast as well as needing a paint job so a lot of work needed and when I hit 20k just in parts etc without labor or paint I realized it was not worth restoring a car that might be worth 15-20k at best. I bet with the cost of restorations today you would spend 60-80k

A thing that stands out 70k spent and no paint, that's why the low value. It's like they were restoring it as they were taking it apart.
adit you mentioned all the heavy lifting was done. The body and paint is the heavy lift.

You can doubt it all you want, but I know it to be true.
I don't rebut I am giving information. One post says that it'll take blah blah blah because of the trim. Meanwhile, there's the receipt for $6800 worth of redoing all of the trim. It's all inventoried in there. I'm not rebutting the information, I am giving more information as to what's there and what not. The car is complete. I would be extremely surprised if there was almost anything missing at all.

So yes, I am asking for evaluation as the car sit, but if somebody tells me something needs to be done that doesn't need to be done or tells me that some parts need to be replaced that don't need to be replaced then I am going to respond to those things don't need to be replaced or whatnot.

This car does not need any parts. All the parts are already either bought new, restored or refurbished, or there. What it needs is the floors installed, paint, and assembly.

I was just trying to give an example of how much to restore a car is now. In that condition it's worth 10k at most new parts and all.

Tough spot for you and your buddy. For comparison, I’ve looked at 2 68-9 Roadrunners in the past few months. Both taken apart, both needing finish bodywork and paint + reassembly. One did need trunk floor work. Both needed interior restoration. One had a pretty fresh engine, the other needed a rebuild. Work completed looked pretty good, certainly not concourse. Both had titles. Sellers claimed they were complete cars when restoration started. I didn’t verify. Both have been for sale for a while, both with asking well under $20k. My point is these appear to be tough sales, even though that vintage b body is much more popular than your buddies 67.

Im sorry but you have more then 100 to finish the car. Body and paint is a lot of work. The floor is not in and that will make someone run from it. I wish your friend luck. I do know a little about restoring a car. Going to paint and body this week.

I appreciate your input, but I work at a custom car shop and I am very familiar with how much it costs to restore a car. I just don't know a lot about these cars specifically as far as valuation in the current market.

A 67 charger is not a real sought after car and you have to find someone that LOVES it. It is my opinion that with all parts accounted for and restored but the car disassembled and needing floors, he’d be LUCKY to get 20k. Real lucky

The wrong choice earlier on is the most costly... Spend a few dollars more & buy the right car.. Restoration cost about the same but the value at the end is worlds apart..

Someone earlier seemed to rebuke the thought that there are 100's of hours left to finish this Charger. I painted this car a couple years back and I had way over 100 hours in this car. Keep in mind this was a very clean southern California car that needed zero rust repair. Sure, there were some dings that needed attention but, they all do. It's really easy to add up 100's of hours left to finish this Charger, not to mention all the parts you normally replace during body and paint like weather stripping, trim clips...etc. Not to mention there is no point of doing a nice paint job and not putting new door handles, bumpers, etc on the car.

I’m no mopar expert, but have lost tons of money on cars, so I’ll chime in; it’s ultimately a math equation. The very high end for such a car is maybe $50k. Cant image any shop would finish it for less than $30k (probably super optimistic, but for the sake of argument). That puts you at about $20k for a car that one can’t drive beforehand and will take a fair bit of time to finish…so $15k.
It was a passion project for the current owner (I get it), hence the huge amount of money spent thus far. But for a potential buyer, it’ll be a math equation.

I appreciate your input, but I work at a custom car shop and I am very familiar with how much it costs to restore a car. I just don't know a lot about these cars specifically as far as valuation in the current market.

I want to start out by saying I am not trying to put you on the spot, but I have a legitimate question.

What would your shop charge to put in the floors, finish the bodywork, paint, and reassemble that car? To me, that would be ground zero. The cost of acquiring the car and parts gets added to that.

The reason I look at it that way is my 68 Coronet project is pretty well stalled because at least in my neck of the woods, bodywork and paint is currently about what my car and parts are worth. Add the two numbers together and I have a car that would be a monetary loss if I sold it upon completion.

If I had to buy it the way it is sitting right now I would not offer any more than $10k for it
I am putting together a 70 Charger right now that was completly apart I got from an estate sale
Trying to figure out what parts and bolts and screws go where is not that easy when you did not take it apart
If all the parts are there and nothing more needs to be bought the best thing to happen would be the owner needs to put it back together
There are other $20k projects on the market that would yield more return on the time invested than this car ever would
Sorry to say but someone needs to figure out with this car which way will loose the least amout of cash Press forward to cut it loose now ??

Late to the party here, but if he's not selling... why are you asking "what's it worth"??? Who cares, he's already knows what he spent. Now if you can put that car together in less than 200 hours, I'll pay the full price for it! Not a f'n hope in hell, I don't care how many you've put together !
