Can anyone tell me what the correct ignition wire color is for 69 383…were they orange? Also does the right side rear cylinder #8 wire run across the valve cover and go into the brackets on valve cover and then down the back to plug? Thanks, I just put bracket set on today…none of the wires I had are long enough to reach that last plug on right if I run it through brackets on valve cover and rear bracket…just trying to see what is the correct routing of the wires, thanks

Here is a site for a couple of schematics that should help.

As far as plug wire to #8, I've seen them run over top by the valve cover on the intake side. Don't know if that it was the correct placement but does keep it away from manifold. Do an image search on eBay and google just to see what others have done. eBay is pretty good for research and ideas, not so much for buying! Lol good luck

Factory installed wires were black with gold lettering and had orange rubber conectors at the spark plugs, black rubber connectors at the distributor. AS for the number 8 wire, it did run across the top of the engine and was secured to two areas on the pass. side valve cover. There was also a bracket that bolted up to the last exhaust stud on the passenger side which held the spark plug wire in place.

Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to be sure…i just installed that last bracket, so it should go through the two brackets built onto the valve cover, then run down back of head, into that bracket and onto plug…

Does anyone have recommendations for a good place to buy repro ignition wires?

I had gotten ours through Bill Alphin but he is no longer doing parts. You can try Frank Badalson as he has excellent repro of original stuff.

Thanks, I appreciate it…I think Megaparts looks good, i will get date coded 3q for 68 being my car was built first week January 69. The orange ones I have say Mopar on them, did any years have orange wires?

Megaparts wire sets ARE good, and as reasonably priced and as close to original as I've found.

The orange wire set is a Mopar Performance aftermarket replacement part that is totally INCORRECT. Why Mopar themselves made and sold an aftermarket part so totally WRONG, I'll never understand. But then again, they were selling Mopar engine paints that were the wrong color too. Go figure!

I went to NAPA and purchased the correct orange plug boots, 6 angled and 2 straight. Got the correct dist cap boots as well angled and straight also...and made my own wire set for my 66 383

i put the whole WR49 kit (wire brackets and holders) on the car the other day… I just saw there is also wire plug separator and a heat shield part #'s PWS03 and PWS04 that I think I'm going to order and install as well… They show a PWS01, but that one says late mid year 69 B Body big blocks…my car was built January 69…interesting how they probably realized they needed another heat shield later in that year…if anyone has a photo on the mounting of these parts please post…thanks

I ordered the correct wires from mega parts as recommended and also added the pws03 and pws04 shields, i already did the ignition wire bracket set, but theses shields are separate…i will take off the orange Mopar Performance wires which were only on for a few hundred miles.
