What color are the inspection covers for the upper control arms supposed to be in the engine bay on a 73 RR ?

Body color, black or natural

I looked thru this forum, but couldn't find the answer.

Just did these for my car. They are more of a 60 % gloss black. More than semi gloss, less than gloss. I used a single stage urethane. Hope you have the right screws. Some previous tech must have been lining up my car and lost the screws because there were 4 different metric and Sems bolts crammed in the now oversized holes.:angry1: I got a concensus from other owners and what they said was correct was the plainest hex head sheet metal screw in zinc plating you can find at the hardware store. In a 6 or 8 size, 3/16 to 1/4 long.

My unmolested but "seen better days" originals appear to be similar to but not quite galvanized, at least on one side.

Definitely not black on that side.

I believe black is the one color that seems to fit when "we" are not sure, It is probably wrong more times then not but seems to make it the way "we" think it may be and usually looks good on most things.. Of course usually myself im not to dedicated to everything being correct. That seems to be changing with me now because of wanted originality, but that seems to be a preferred color in so many instances. No hate mail, just being truthful! and i wonder how many would be truthful themselves enough to agree... Good or bad.

My originals were black, almost flat black, but I had them powder coated in 20% gloss black. I also had the same problem with the many different types of screws that were used on them, so went to ace and got some black coated stainless steel screws and replaced them all.

With the responses posted ^^^ I think I'll paint them black. Thanks also to idrive for mentioning the screws being black too. I forgot to ask about those :eusa_doh:

Finally got the covers off & painted black on the engine bay side. They look much better.

For what it's worth, they were undercoated underneath, so I left that side alone.
