Installation Tips for Longtube Headers in 383

So someone pointed out in here that I didn’t even purchase the correct headers. The ones I purchased won’t work with power steering. I am keeping my stock exhaust manifolds. To your point my engine is mostly stock. I thought I was doing something the simple way until I posted this thread. Always learning something…..

you can reconnect your battery now

To the OP: TTI sells Exhaust-pipes (also called Head-pipes) that connect to your stock exhaust manifolds and exit under the car at the point headers do. They can be bought as a pair or as part of a complete system that exits out the rear of your car. TTI is a spendy choice as the Head-pipes alone are $234 for the pair - but they will fit perfectly. I put a set on a 383 in a Challenger (which has similar engine bay dimensions as your '69 Charger). You said you are trying to be budget conscious so TTI may be out of your price range but, IMO, I'd send the Summit headers back (since they won't fit your power steering) and use that money towards the TTI head-pipes. Here's a link to the TTI page that covers the Head-pipes: Exhaust_Parts

I disconnect my battery every other week and only connect when the moon is full
False, unless your disconnecting one of the two leads every other week. Which is really a waste of time.

Do you stand on one leg while doing it?
