Hello all,
My fuel pump crapped out, and I need to install a replacement. I have already pulled the old pump, but have a question on the best way to position things to install the new pump.
I plan on rotating the engine for the eccentric on the cam to allow the fuel pump pushrod to receed, but what is a good way to have the pushrod remain in its upward position while I bolt the fuel pump on?
Currently, the pushrod is dropped down, and is resting on the block plug that seals its exterior insertion hole.
My plan is to rotate the engine to allow the max upward movement of the pushrod, pull the plug, remove the pushrod, give it a liberal coating of grease, reinstall the pushrod, and see if it stays up in its place while I install the new pump.
Any better techniques out there for this operation?
Mike
