Hi guys,

When I measure voltage at the battery of my '68 Satellite I get a steady 14.4 Volts.
However when I measure at the coil or alternator I get 14.4 with intermittent short drops to 6 or 2 volt...
Is this normal? caused by the points opening/closing perhaps?

I never got these readings before, but I do have a new multimeter, the old one was ancient.

Mechanical voltage regulator? The points/contacts in it might need to be cleaned. Its in the FSM.

It's likely the digital voltmeter trying to interpret the voltage regulator disruption.
Sometimes an old Voltmeter with a D'arsonval movement is best.

But you shouldn't have battery voltage at the coil unless you have bypassed the ballast resistor?

I tried a new regulator, same result, could be faulty also ofcourse.

Yes my bad, voltage at coil is a little lower, system is stock.
