As going 140+ in the 1/4 mile?
I'm really curious to see if there is much of a difference in how it feels at the seat of the pants.

Going 134 seemed like it was a lot faster than going 126 did.....only 8 mph difference.

The last end of the track is lot different. I run 118@1/8, 147@1/4. My street car is 100@1/8, 122@1/4 big difference

maybe the 1st couple passes,
difference between 129 & 140 mph, I don't really remember being anything special
or ALL THAT MEMORABLE, the change in 60ft times & launch felt a bunch different usually,
But you'd become accustomed to the slight different speed pretty quickly

after about 170 it really seems allot faster, to me anyway,
especially in an open car like an altered, you get use to/acclimated to the speeds,
pretty quickly thou

I remember being complacent at 190 too,
after a while it seemed like you could count the posts in the guardrail going by...LOL

another 10-15 mph is a great improvement thou...

When I went from 116 to 124+ in my 63 the biggest difference to me was first gear as it felt much stronger and faster when launching and pulling through first gear. Top end feels stronger also but not as much as the pull in first gear did. Ron

The first time I drove a friends fairly quick car (124) my head about fell into the back seat on a dry hop lol. When I finally got my own car my first pass it broke em loose going into 3rd gear and it drove up against the wall (guard rail back then) and thought it was going to rub it while backing off the throttle. That is the car that was running 126. The one that ran 134 I could tell the difference in the feel of the speed. It drove nice and straight and was very easy to drive but so did the other car once I got used to doing what it needed on the burnout etc.

So why would a guy say he went 140+ mph when all he went was a 129.XX? And he says it multiple times on different forums. Is he smokin' and blazin' up or too much Xanex? :icon_weed:

I know from personal experience that the jump from running 99mph 1/4 to 108mph is huge....so the 8mph increase is definitely noticeable. :headbang:

Going 8 mph faster than 99 didn't seem that much of a difference to me. Also, going mid 130's on the highway sure didn't seem the same as going 134 on the track. The track felt faster to me.....

I can tell you when I got back into racing. I went 12.10 to 12.20 and thought that was fast and then I bought my 65 light blue dodge and it went 10.21 and I almost **** in my pants. 1st pass, I lifted 3 times it went 11.35.
Next pass was 10.90 and then finally on the 3rd pass I got my 1st 10 second pass and it felt totally different.
Here's a picture of my 1st 10 second pass.

That's a manly story. I'm never scared.
Except doing 165 around Pocono Raceway in a stock car. Physics seem to be out the window there.

That's because you're a stud now. Losing all that weight. Center of gravity is on your side, it's a win,win situation for you.

Did I ever tell you that you have lovely teeth?
