Is Hemi block Salvagable

I pulled the Hemi in my 69 RR and took it to the engine shop to have the vintage stroker crank and aluminum rods swapped out. Engine shop doesn't want to reassemble it, various problems. Engine was running.

Is this block salvagable?
Not original engine car
I have a HP 440 to put in RR
Was a 383 car.

Is was my father in laws car that was inherited 6 years ago. I found a reciept regarding the JB Weld, looks like the block wasn't clearanced enough and rod hit the block and caused a leak, JB weld was the fix. No idea when/why the brazing happened. My thought at this point is a bail on the Hemi and sell the RR with the 440 and be done with it. Car looks nice but it needs a down to bare metal restoration.

Sure, it cam be saved. It seems 10's of thousands of Hemi's were blown up in the racing days and always worth saving another one.
 
What did the main bearings look like? anything moving around?
 
I'm thinking that would not be cost effective to save. The bores are one thing but the mains and that JB Weld area are a whole different ballgame.
 
Block is 8/1966 I dug through a bunch of receipts and it appears the brazing was done in 2008, so it has held up. Bearings look to have just normal wear. Apparently the go to guy in the NW he used for brazing retired a few years ago. I've never had an engine that was brazed so wasn't sure if it meant the engine was shot. It doesn't appear to be the case, I just need to find someone in the NW that brazes. Also need to do some research into ceramic block filler/sealer. The JB weld is working so maybe some ceramic sealer for a little each protection.
 
I certainly wouldn't do a high horsepower build with it, but if it has ran like that since 2008 I would put it back together and run it.
 
this is a common repair of the block if all bearings look good run it as said mild build and have fun you will not run this at 4000 for 2 to 4 hr so do not worry about the j-b weld ether not a problem . the block filler is good but you lose coolant fill maybe some one can tell you more on that but it dose strengthen the block over all.
 
Can someone explain or circle the areas that have been brazed? I can see the Jb Weld (obviously) but I'm unsure of what the brazing looks like. Just for my ongoing education, thanks.
 
There was in a thread a picture 440-6 block that I think sat i water. It was super rusty, the brazed the block to be able to use it. There was pounds of braze. Check that mains are ok if not line bore it and sleeve cylinders as needed.
 
I've put nearly 400 runs on my mega block since it kicked a rod and was brazed. It's apart for service needing a few rocker shafts, hone, and freshen up the valve job. I can tell you it doesn't look anywhere near that pretty. Makes enough power to dip into the 8's @3360lbs
