Yep no big deal, mine was like that also.If you look really close at the top of the T-chain you can see it.
I have a better pic, I just need to dig it out.
I must have lost the pic I was thinking of but here is another that shows the hole...Just clean up the edges so you don't have any chipping off into your new motor and get your local engine builder to look it over, they will have the final say.
Ahole? No worries, its kind of an oil return hole to the timing chain area. Like 74sundance said you can clean it up. I like using a dremmel or die grinder with a pointed bit in it to square up the sharp edges so there is no chance of them breaking off. Inside of the block is plenty of these too. Good luck with the rebuild. keep us posted...
Thanks alot!! I was scared shartless that it was a hole in the block,so if I wanted to build a 500 stroker engine I should have no problems?! Can I build a 10.1 compression 500 stroker?
Yes you can, the block in the pic's I posted for you is now a 500ci stroker @ 11.7:1...Build away
Look at this pic closely to see where you should clean up the slag, like khryslerkid said there is a lot of it inside the block it's not worth the risk to leave it in there. You should be able to see the shinny ground down areas in my pic...If not just look inside your block and you will find scale that looks like it could chip.
