I don't really know why he checks the deck that way. I'm sure you're right - he doesn't have that tool. I'm gambling that the deck can/is close enough to work for this mild build. And Yeah, I check everything he does when I get it back. Unfortunately, I'm just not that smart. Sometimes I'm at the mercy of the machinist and it's a real struggle for me to figure things out. Like on this motor - I'm hoping the deck can be cut without having to go too low and make the pistons too close to the head. I haven't done a really high compression high lift cam motor in over 20 years. Well since my regular machinist John at Advanced Machine closed his shop. He was a really great guy. He'd do all of the math for me, and I could trade my labor for machine work he'd do there. But this motor having relatively low compression and under .600 lift, I think/hope it's gonna be good enough for what it is. Every motor I've ever done through this shop here/now has been really good. So far anyway. "Fingers crossed" Besides, I'm fully committed to this build as I've already bought the kit - the current stock bore was/is 4.330 And he says it'll definitely clean up at 30 over for sure. That's what I was hoping he'd say but I wouldn't buy the kit until he gave me the "go-ahead" So, I got the 5060 kit which is like 4.350 @ 30 over. I really do think everything's gonna be fine. Probably a good thing that I'm not very smart when it comes to stuff like this or I'd be even more stressed out right now. $4600 is a lot of dough for me. And I haven't worked since last Thurs when my 91 year old mother fell down and hurt her knee. I take care of her 24-7 now. Until she can walk again. But lousy timing. I mean thank God it wasn't worse. But you know what I mean. I've been saving over three years for this build/motor. So, please give a nod to God for me if your religious - I know I sure am. I'll take all the good positive thoughts and prayers I can get right now. Heh, Heh. Thanks bro
