Is this an original 1969.5 440 6 BBL intake?

Wondering if this intake I have is an original 69.5 intake or not. Always wondered.

Certainly agree the idle solenoid isn’t needed. My 71 had one when I purchased the car in 1982 so I ran with it. It wasn’t the original DR1114443. It had been replaced with a 1970 DR1114429 solenoid sometime during the cars first eleven years of life. Funny thing is I just this morning replaced the 1970 solenoid with a “rebuilt” 1971 solenoid that I purchased a few months ago. Very pricey but that’s what happens once you start down the correct numbers restoration path.
FWIW looking at the original image posted it doesn’t not appear the intake has provisions to mount a solenoid anyway?

I’ll have to check mine when I get to the storage. I was looking at @gtx6970 post and wondering just when you posted. I don’t recall holes there. May have some pics of mine somewhere. I did see some brackets for 70 models to mount the solenoid as a repro item.

Your manifold should have the holes... Never seen a 440-6 manifold without them... The bracket is for 340-6...

Oh thanks. I got my aluminum manifold in about 1996. Traded for it.

At that time I don’t think the reproductions had the part number cast in and the guy I got it from had had it for a long time. Pretty sure I recall updates, long after I got this one that they were going to add the part number and or the CHRY.

Does this look like an original 69.5 or early 70 leftover original by chance? I read long ago on the A12 site the six ‘ 6 ‘ is a little weird and the core markings on the bores on originals look like mine. Any experts want to weigh in?

Like I said when I got this the reproduction ones didn’t have the part numbers so I always thought it might be an original.

That looks like a later re-issue to me.
1. My original A12 manifold does have a "wonkie" 6, and the number is nowhere near as distinct. (I'd have to pull a carb to get a picture)
2. That manifold doesn't look like its been painted, ever. The factory manifolds were orange.
Look at the port exits, and carb throats. I have a re-issue too (pre-part#added) and it has terrible core shift in the carb throats, and the port exits are mis-shapen. The originals were really good in comparison.

I’m pretty sure it was rattle can painted when I got it. Doesn’t look raw aluminum in person, but maybe. I got stupid for a few seconds one day and then came to my senses and stopped painting it orange back in about 96.

If you look carefully, you can see the step about an inch down, left by the throat cutter. The cutter left raw casting on about half of the throat, and cut into the divider wbere it shouldn't, resulting in an oval carb throat.
The port exits are gonna require some work too.
A real original would be lots better than this.

My memory is my exit ports look nothing like that. They look ‘normal’ or not odd shaped. I’ll see if I can dig up that thread from either A12 or Moparts site. .I’m thinking it was moparts now.

Said original carb ports looked similar to mine and there were variations in the core shift but some looked like mine.

im not saying it is an original, but that thread seemed to indicate it might be.

But when I found it no one would respond because they don’t like to respond to old threads on Moparts I gather, and won’t respond to new thread if there’s already one on same topic it seems, or if you have limited posts there, IDK. That’s why I’m here on Joeys sites.

Another bit of info that might shed some light on this particular intake is

I think the guy I got the manifold off of name might have been named Mark, or possibly another name with 4 letters, last name may have started with a P. This was in San Antonio in circa ‘96.

He had a 70 Bee or R/T. F8 or F4 lime green metallic in color.

He bought my original 15 x 7 Rally’s and trim rings right off my 70 RR, and took them to a tire shop and paid to swap them to my cop wheels.

He also bought an orange ram charger airbox setup from either me or my friend Glenn. I think it was from Glenn.

Maybe he’s on here or one of you might know him. His car wasn’t an original V code car, but he was trying to get as close as possible. Great guy.

Heres my guess on this whole thing, feel free to correct me.
first Weird 6 no CH6, original A12
then regular 6 with no CH6, late A12
then regular 6 with CH6, early over the counter 72-76
then chopped 6 with CH6B, late over the counter 77-79
then 8 over the 6 with no CH6B, latest over the counter 80-82
then an 8 with CH6B,
then an 8 with Chrysler spelled out, modern

The manifold in the picture was purchased in 1976 from Chrysler. It cost $121 and it has a regular 6 with only the CH6 on the cross over.

plug or bolt in it
