69 Plymouth GTX - Can I use a stock cap and rotor on this distributor “if it is factory”? Or does this look like an after market made distributor?

From here it looks like an old Mallory dual point. The stock distributors were Prestolite.

The pictured distributor is a Mallory YC dual point distributor, probably YC-365-HP. If still present, the Mallory identification tag was bolted under the bracket holding the external condensor.

The cap and rotor are specific to the distributor. The "flat top" cap on it now is Mallory part number 4004 which retains the wires more solidly. A spark plug wire tower version is part number 4001. The rotor part number is 4215C.

The wiring could use some love.

This is very good information. Thanks so much for breaking this down. Can’t wait to check for the id tag… but having that part number is “clutch”! I appreciate you Vaanth!
