Is this the new normal? What could be perceived junk asking at premium prices.

Let’s start off by saying the following project car is certainly salvageable and there is presumably approx $6000 or so in new parts. So it’s not that it’s worthless. Definitely can be saved and put back on the road… a big project though. But am I on A hallucinogen of some sort? This is in cdn funds but $28,000 asking price seems really high for this. Anyone care to weigh in?

1970 Charger 500 | Classic Cars | City of Toronto | Kijiji

I missed out on a 70 charger 500. (Seller backed out of the deal when I brought a bank draft to his door after we discussed the deal and shook hands) Back in 01 so alway been on the look for another. Just can’t believe the prices of these things.

I think a nice running and driving 318 Charger wouldn't bring much more that 28k !!

depends how bad somebody wants it and how much they are willing to spend....... a pro athlete probably wouldn't care if he had 150K into that Charger

It seems like a contest of;

My rusty old junk, is worth more that your rusty old junk
gouging has commenced, with no good rhyme or reasoning
& they wouldn't ever pay that price for yours

rusty ****, :jackoff: is still rusty **** :realcrazy:

34% more (than USA Dollars) in Canadian $$$s too...

They can ask what they want. Getting it is something else.

Not if you're spending my money. A '68 maybe...
Not to be rude but this isn’t 2005 anymore. The Dukes of Hazard and Bullitt died along time ago. Don’t know if it’s The Fast and Furious movies, a newer generation or what but you’re now seeing the 70 model selling just as fast and now worth as much or more than a 68 or 69. People absolutely love them and Dodge even sells a full carbon body 70 Charger! Seems like the only people mad that the 70 is doing so good are the old school Mopar guys and it makes me absolutely happy lol

That car is not too far from me and I did reply to the ad when it was posted and mentioned it might be a bit much but I was looking more for a 68
Same seller has a couple more project mopars listed at the same kind of over the top prices
It is a Charger and has not sold yet in almost 2 weeks it has been listed so safe to say the selller is asking too much for it to sell

Okay, pick it up as is and drop it by a restoration shop. Now add $175K or more and you'll have a finished car. I'm not a "Charger" guy at all and could care less how they're priced, so have at'r.

I don't even bother to call on stuff like that, but I don't consider myself a herd guy.

68-72 cars are all priced on hype. It is hype carried since the 1990's. Old guys will say it is worth that much, anyone under the age of 40 will say I will go buy one of 20 other sports cars for that money and daily it.
That hasn't changed and it won't until the old guys are gone. The Dodge Charger is a few years out yet from being the next Studebaker Silver Hawk or Ford Model A.

Now if you had a Golden Hawk with a Paxton blower that is a completely different story.
Going back a long time, one of our small town police men had (I think a 56 Stude lowboy). It had been ordered by the Saskatoon City Police, they decided to sell that one because they had too many. I heard my older brother talking to his friends saying don’t try to out run George, but the the RCMP were okay. By 1964 you pretty well knew you couldn’t out run George, but the RCMP with their 283 Chev/Pontiacs, Fords were fair game.
George’s Lowboy was apparently ordered as a highway pursuit car. Fortunately George only had jurisdiction if you broke a town law. He was a very understanding officer.

I once had a 1956 Golden Hawk. It had a 352 Packard in it rated at 275 h.p. The '57 & '58 Golden Hawks used a 289 Studebaker with a Paxton blowing through a 2 barrel, for the same 275 h.p. rating. The 1962 - 1964 GT Hawks and Avantis with the R2 motor also used a 289 Studebaker, with a Paxton now blowing through a four barrel.

Not Hardly, a 70 will never be worth as much as a 68 or 69. I’m 23, and my generation prefers the 60s Chargers. If there was a 68, 69 and 70 Charger for sale at the same price, the 68, 69 would go first.

Sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself again.
