It's now a soon to be forgotten relic. I'm under the hood way to often to have to deal with this damned thing.

One will put a gash in your head, the other will take out an eye.

Try a hat. I'm bald and the hat is a must not just for that thing, but for others.

I have a styrofoam block I got from the art store I cut a hole in it and it slides right on no gashs anymore

no ****! ....... I almost killed a buddy of mine with one....... we had a canoe bungeed down hard and I let it slip, whizzed right by his head with amazing force and speed....... there ought to be a law

as for the hood thingy, wear a helmet

A friend of my took one off his 69 Imperial and not much long after on a full throttle blast the hood opened. No damage but had to be fun to see happen.

I thought that same thing then as mentioned above not long after that my hood didn't latch completely and opened. My hood did get damage though. I didn't drive slow back then. Live and learn. Safety for a reason.

I think someone truly evil designed that thing. When I take my car to car shows, I slip a tennis ball over it to protect people's heads (including my own!). I'm not sure anyone could design a more painful and nasty device!

...but I keep it on the car since I would hate to destroy or damage an original Air Grabber hood...

Yes, the tennis ball helps. Always use it at car shows. Don't forget to remove before closing hood. It can be difficult to dig out.

I laughed when I saw this post, it wasn't that long ago that I said the same thing! Used to get so ticked off driving that spike into my head:mad:.

Haven't had the old bird long enough to be gouged by its talon but I fear it will happen eventually. If it does happen atleast I'll have something up there besides a bald spot. Cool bloody scars are all the rage.

I had to snicker a bit when I read the title
But;
I have a lift off pinned on A12 hood on my RR
no more damn latch to the forehead

those things are brutal

Is there some way to modify hood hinges? So hood can stay approx. around 5 inch higher? I know we still hit our heads as i am 6 1/2 f.

Cr8crshr will give you a good argument on that, and he's bald too! I should know, seen it all to often!

whacked my head way too many times on my coronet latch, now I use a "direct connection" tennis ball !!!

I have the center latch and both hood pins. I'm not worried. It's never going back on.
