Jim's Auto Parts Experience

I think R/T specialties and also Megaparts might sell new hinges for $40-$60 and I have heard good things about them. Sorry about Jims that place does blow! We should report these places to the BBB for sure!!

can we get a link I just checked them both and couldn't find hinges..... just the "rebuild" kits that don't work.

Good folks indeed! I've had great luck with both.... I bought the hinge rebuild kit from Megaparts. If you can use a drill, hammer and a map gas torch it's pretty easy. Might be a bit tougher if you have a pretty rotton car.

Doors now shut beautifully and have a nice effortless swing and a light "click" when secured in by the latch, Sag..Long Gone!

If you still have the old ones and they are repairable.........Step up, spend the 50 bucks, roll up your sleeves and knock it out youself. Save yourself a couple hundred bucks

my 2 cents.......

has anyone else get one of jims huge catalogs in their order and get charged like $50.00 for it. Without ordering one. Then he says send it back and get a 20% restocking fee and have to pay $12.00 to ship it back on your dime.

alway good to do a google search before you buy from a vender , jim's has been reported all over the mopar boards as being a crook .

This was going to be my suggestion, especially for someone new to the hobby. Find a vendor and do a little research on them before commiting to buy and at the very least, use a credit card for your purchase. You may still eat the shipping, but the cc company will most likely back you on the dispute and refund your $$.

The BBB is a farce! Companies pay to be a member and the BBB would prefer to keep them as members so they will continue to receive their yearly dues. The BBB can't force their member companies to do anything... they can only request that the offender settles the problem. It takes a LOT of bad reports before the BBB drops a member. BBB approval isn't really worth the paper or electrons it's printed on.
IMHO David

I AGREE. BBB is just a big joke. I believe it protects the ones who pay into the BBB. They will do squat for you.

so, here's the conundrum, There are enough boards out there to discuss whatever bad suppliers there is out there, so why do we keep buying from them? Wouldn't it be better to put them under (at least under that name) than to keep supporting their habits? Wouldn't it be better to have less suppliers that are honest, and pay more, than helping someone else retire on your dollar?

I think the problem is that everyone who buys from Jims auto parts never knew he IS a crook!
He fooled me with his long list of parts. I got 1/2 of what I ordered which did me no good w/o the other parts he did not ship plus a $50.00 catalog which I did not order.
Someone gonna give him a nice whooping one day. I wonder why he never shows up at Carlisle, Pa. each July.:buttkick::icon_blackeye:

Haha, That's putting the smilies to good use.

Jim's reputation has reached us over here, thankfully, due to the good ol' 'net, so I've been lucky enough to avoid them.

'Jack's' - http://www.jacksautoparts.com/ - on the other hand, depsite the similar name, are one of the good guys and have always been very helpful.

It took me a while to get used to which was good and which was bad (Jim or Jack), but now it's engrained in my memory, and Jim's are on the sh*t list (with Laysons) and Jack's are up there with the suppliers we look at first. :usa2:
