Judging by these PICTURES, is this Radiator enough for my 440?

Hi guys. I just put in my freshly built 440. It is going to be a daily driver, with a lot of street use, and will encounter traffic for sure.
This is the radiator I had in it before I tore it apart. It was a street/strip car and this rad was put in by the P.O.

It is 26" wide, about 18.5" tall, and 1.5" wide.

Is it enough cooling power for my intended use as a 440 daily driver?

Looks like a single row.

looking at the pics and dimensions, I'd say no. It also depends on the cfm of the fan. But that radiator is thinner and narrower than the one I have in my 318 car. Mine is 28 inches wide, 3 inches thick (2.5 dual core) and about 19 inches high. I have a pair of 2500 cfm fans, and it idles at about 165-175 on a warm day.

Agreed. No. 26" copper from Ma Mopar with factory style thermal fan/shroud the best for street.

It won't be enough. I have a 440 and know from experience. Any stop and go traffic and the temp gauge would climb and climb. I finally had to ditch the smaller RAD and electric fan.

I would just buy an aluminum RAD with 1" tubes and an engine fan with shroud. I threw everything at it and this is what seemed to be the best for me. All in all, it shouldn't run you more than $500.

May work if you never have to stop at a light . I have a alum 3 core in a 440 4 speed charger and it still gets a bit hot at long lights. Spend the cash and be 100% certain it's not worth a engine. The owner of this 440 car I have didn't want to buy a bigger rad it had one like yours they got stuck in stop and go traffic, burnt the motor up real quick .

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I will be looking for a different radiator and fan!
Any suggestions for affordable but reliable set ups? Should I go with the stock mechanical fan, or electric? I have a Dodge Ram Van that I swapped out the mechanical fan for a Ford Taurus electric fan, and it works great in NYC traffic.
There are so many options out there for radiators it is hard to choose!

Thermal fan. Shroud. And, stay out of Manhattan with that thing!

Oh come on man, don't you want to see a 71 Charger tearing up 14th Street in a cloud of tire smoke?!?!? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What's a good place to get a thermal fan? Do I have to find a used one? Are small block fans and big block fans different? Thanks!

So I found some fans on Mancini racing... Looks like there are a couple options. The 5-blade, or the 6-blade. Thoughts? What are you guys using on your 440's?
