Just another 505 build

Last time I had it on the scales, it was 3450 with me in it. That was 2 years ago with the 727, iron heads, and 15 gal fuel tank that was full.

This year I should be about 3420 lbs with me in. Wondering what your diff gear is Schob? With my new gear set I'll be 2.74 first gear with the 4.10.

60 foot was 1.420 with the transbrake set at 3000 RPM. Honestly with that 1.80 first gear, it lugs for a second as the converter flashes and then it goes. I haven't given a single thought about going back to a 727. Powerglide is super easy to get parts, my unit is an aftermarket case so no need for a trans shield, and its all rated for about 1000 hp. Ain't gonna hurt that thing. Plus its deadly when it comes to bracket racing... I do not have any 1/4 mile times, only 1/8 mile tracks in my area. If you throw it in the calculator though, it comes out to being 10.10 ish. CR is 13-1.
Here is a pix of one of my recent timeslips:

You said your 1/8 ET's and mph were 6.49 and 6.47 @104.xx mph..
For your comparisons
my
Quarter Mile 10.17 @ 131.54mph shows 1/8 mile @ 6.45 @105.92 mph. (My best 1/8 mile ET and mph are [email protected])

I got 4.11's as well.

Mike thats interesting, you run a 3 speed correct? Looking at your 60 foot I'm real interested how my 2 speed is 60 footing better than your 3 speed. Even if it is by .009. What do you shift at and what is your trap RPM? Also what do you have your transbrake set to?

You guys are getting after it in the 60’ but I’m not far behind ya!View attachment 570869

I guess for the first year for both the car and I it's not that bad.. I have to think that my old converter wasn't helping me, it came used out of the local classified ads.
I've done quite a few good changes over the off-season, hopefully my time slips will look better in 2018.

Hooker Headers 5903's I believe... Changing spark plugs is easy, but installing them in is a royal pain!!

My best 60' is 1.400 but typical is more like 1.42 or 1.43. I shift 1-2 at about 6400 and 2-3 at about 6100 and I trap between 6800 and 6900 @ 131+ mph.
My brake chip is 3600 with 17lbs of air in my bias ply stiff sidewall Hoosiers with 94" rollout, 11" tread width and 4.30 gear.
At the upcoming March Meet (March 1-5) I am going to try up to 4000 brake chip at 18/19 lbs of air.
