Just Need To Vent Before I Get A Divorce

My wife likes to drive my GTX and she can stab those gears just fine, but she never drives it unless I'm in the car with her.
I'm glad she likes classic cars so I bought a 73 Mustang convertible for her because that's what she wanted and its fine with me, she drives it wherever and whenever she wants, of course I clean and maintain all the cars.
I've had allot of nice cars and I've always said, its just a car.

I keep my wife out of my toy room. I don't let relatives and or friends in my garage. I find it only creates problems when people have access to your cars. A big issue especially today people are jealous over everything you have and they don't. This is wear letting your prize out in the hands of wives leaves you in a no win situation. So keep the items separate. When i have the misfortune to visit my in laws the first thing they ask is how is your car? Then how much have you spent on it. THen how much this and that! Keep it simple and keep it too the weather never show money or Bragg about anything.

i know what you mean by "all your hard work", but that is irrelevant in the eyes of my wife. although at 5 feet tall and 98 lbs, she would have a very difficult time trying to drive my beast. (but she has threatened to sell it):sad2:

my keys are in a safe and the barn keys are in another safe ,if she wants a car I buy it so she has her own .

I'm lucky. When seat is where she can reach the pedals, her boobs hit the steering wheel. My favorite toys protect the other toy, in a manner of speaking.

I owned both my mopars before we were married. I pay for them. I work on them. She rides in them. I let her drive the super bee once. We stop and get out. The car starts to slowly roll away. She looks at me an says "I put it in park". Its a 4 speed. The last time she drives a mopar

Thankfully my wife is Afraid of the beast in the garage. I don't think she would ever drive it herself.. Besides I do have theft protection.

I'm glad she likes it and wants to drive it but you don't know my wife. She's scared to pull a car in a garage. She's jack knifed a boat trailer into the bumper of a truck, ran into a sign and damn near took her mirror off, and almost ran the Roadrunner into the back of the garage when she thought she was in reverse but was actually in drive. I'm also kidding about the divorce, as pissed as she can get me there are a lot more happy times.

I understand, my wife has smashed every car she's had since we've been married! Same excuse everytime...... "it jumped right in front of me". She'll only drive it with me in the car.

I can see both sides. It really isn't as much about the car, cause you're right it can be washed and it's only rain. It's more about how she went about it. We are a fairly young couple, I'm 32 she's 28 been married seven years. When we had our daughter I told her she could stop working and raise her. My daughter is now 4 and my wife just started working again about 4 months ago. So when she said it's her car too she also said half her money paid for it...but she didn't work for most of the time the car was being built. It just kind of got under my skin and just adds to some of the stuff she's said to me before about my job when she wasn't working. I'd come home tired or sore and she'd say what's wrong with you, you just work at a desk. Made me want to quit and go work as a construction worker so I'd have the dirt under my nails but a quarter of the pay and tell her to enjoy that salary.

Don't sweat the small stuff.
Pick and choose your fights. After 25 years married, The little things don't bother me anymore.
I caught my wife last weekend too. Boy did she get a beating.lol

A good reason why I drive beaters lol. Several years back I sold the nice cars and bought things for the house and now that I want to put my Belvedere back together without doing a 100 point interior and paint job and she's balking about that. Told her that if I got it running before I died, then I'd worry about making the rest look good but I'm tired of it sitting because family came first. Now that the kids are grown and gone, it's my turn. She's a car freak too but likes them to be nice but time and money is a factor now. She also used to go out and get her freshly detailed car dirty so I quit detailing it! That right there would piss me off to no end. All that work just thrown away so now if she wants it done, she does it herself but now the engine etc is starting to look it's age and I hate that especially when I need to work on it. You can't live with em and you can't live without em but if I had to do it all over again....I'd take my chances and live without em lol

Hey Chris, has she ever made a pass in it? I was going to let my wife make a few easy passes in my old Duster and we started out on a road the track used for a road course and she started breaking the rear end loose and just as it was getting about 30 degrees sideways I yell out if she was going to let off or not! She did but lucky for me, the seat was fixed and was just a bit too far back for her to put it in reverse so she said maybe some other time. The car ran high 9's and she had never driven anything faster than a 14.0. I never did put tracks on it and ended up selling the car and probably for the better lol. Haven't had another since.

Same here when the seat in the charger is up far enough for her feet to reach the pedals....well that never happens cuz her boobs hit the steering wheel. The ac also doesn't work so she wouldn't drive it anyway.

Either our wives are related, or our cars are !

2nd car is the way to go. You maintain it....but she keeps it looking like she expects it to. I wouldn't have a crappy relationship over a car. If my wife drove my WO car or road runner to work, fine. It if gets damaged, she can pay for the damage. But, that's why she has this...........

Im missing something here. Is this guy talking about a hobby car or just there family car? If its his Mopar classic then yes i can agree,if not well all I can say is I'm glad its not my daughter

My Bride begged me to let her drive my Road Runner when I got it and it only took 4 1/2 miles for the clutch and manual steering to do her in. :happy3:

... but she's a good girl and has never objected to me having a shop full of toys, so I bought the '65 Coronet (automatic and power steering) just for her. :love6:

... but guess who drives it more? :eusa_dance:

All kidding aside though, she would never, ever take it out on her own. Not sure that I can explain why, that's just the way it is ... :nono:

I too was waiting for the punch line, actually looked to see if the post was in the jokes forum... hehe, no joke.

I just converted my 70 RR to a 4 speed. Problem solved, she doesn't drive manual !!! She drove it once when it was an auto. Scared the crap outta her !!!!! LOL
