Well, let me first say this is just for learning and info purposes, car is a loong way from body/paint work...which is not in my wheelhouse so I won't be messing with it. It's destined to always be a driver, no concourse restoration. My car has some shallow (1/16" roughly) gouges in the lead roof-to-body joint, like it was hit with a wirewheel or scotch pad or something...will that have to be fixed with lead, or could it be smoothed over with a filler compound? I'm just trying to get my head around it as I think lead-work guys are few and far between...thanks

The correct way would be to heat the lead up and get it out. But, let’s do it the simple way. Sand the paint past the seem and use USC All Metal. It’s very similar to Rage Evercoat but has powdered aluminum in it. It’s perfect for high stress areas.

Wear a respirator when messing with lead!!!

Ok, good to know there's options! It likely won't get more than a simple repaint to make it presentable. I doubt I will ever do the all-out treatment on this car..

Uhhh, yeah lead is very dangerous, but I know a guy that's re-leading his car using stuff he got from Eastwood I believe & wear a respirator and don't sand any lead. 5.7 hemi is correct.

check this product out. I have friends that have had great success using it and it has last for years with no problem

This aluminum-filled compound is great for use on roof panels where car companies used lead in the day. It remains more flexible than other fillers, so it will not crack with the flex of the roof.
