Going to try it again, stock gooseneck leaking, any better piece than stock one? Previously cleaned off, used new gasket and sealer, didn't work, still have a slight leak.BTW it's a 440 with A/C.Thanks
Mike

Since you will be pulling it apart anyway, try this. Check the top of the pump housing and the Tstat cover with a big flat file. I'll bet they are bent from previous overtightening. Do some careful filing and get them flat again. These do not need a lot of torque to seal if they are flat. You are only holding as much pressure as you radiator cap is rated for. Same thing happens with carb baseplates all the time.

I've done what Mopar To Ya suggested because my housing was warped. I ended up using 2 thermostat gaskets stacked on top of one another to get a good seal.

yep, thats what i did on a oe thermostat housing giving me fits. no more problems. make sure you silicone with hi temp in between the gaskets and let set overnight before you put antifreeze back in. orelse you'll never get it to seal up.

Thanks guys, will do as suggested

I tried all the above...Still had seepage from the housing...Put in a billet aluminum with an o ring for the seal..No more leaks!!

1badgtx, do you have a source and part number for that piece? Sounds like a great alternative.
Mike

440 Source sells a nice billet anodized water neck.

I bet you can find the O-ring sealed one at Summit.

Hey, guys new to the site, I just picked up one of the CVR billet o ring water necks to cure my leaking problem. Question though, what upper radiator hose did you use since it is now a 90 degree set up? Thanks all. Tom

bend a hanger and form the bend you need and bring it to a auto parts store and go through their rack of hoses. just make sure you get the correct size openings on each end of the hose.

Thanks Super, I should have thought of that one!! Yeah the CVR neck is an inch and a half opening though, will the oe hose clamp down enough to make a seal? I think the oe hose is 1 3/4 or 1 5/8 id.
