Hey there y'all, gonna get an Edelbrock #1407 for my Dodge 400 engine and I'd love to have an open air filter instead of an air cleaner, but it has that pesky lean-burn system attached to it. Was curious if anyone had tips on how to delete it or how to rig it without it being connected to the air cleaner. Thanks y'all!!

Different carb and ignition needed. Should be threads on it in here. That carb will not work with the lean burn system will need a different ign system

You need a replacement spread-bore carb, and an electronic ignition system.

Had a 1978 Fury Sport 318, lean burn and lock in torque converter. Thing was a dog. When warranty was over, and had problems we switched to electronic ignition and replace the transmission with an ordinary 727. Much nicer to drive and better performance.

I had a Lean Burn 400 on my 77 Cordoba. I swapped over to a Mopar electronic ignition kit & still used the factory Thermoquad carburetor. That was 40 years ago. Pretty simple job.
