Yesterday we remembered our fallen veterans. Today maybe we could remember the rest. Every year 6000 veterans die by suicide; that’s 16 every day.

We have a lot of veteran brothers and sisters here on the greatest forum on the web. Thank you for your service. There is help if you need it.

Absolutely there is help if you want it. This lifeline cant be posted up enough, or in enough places. Thanks.

I heard on the news that an estimated 22 Vets take that unfortunate route every day - a stunning statistic and an incredibly sad one. What’s happening in our society that we haven’t taken care of one of our most revered categories? Have we gotten too busy - do our cell phones and computers take priority? What’s happening ...... Why?

Too much turmoil and divisiveness..no one wants to be seen taking a stand in case it is wrong by tomorrow...

progressivism, obstructionism, defunding attempts &
down right contempt, or what some call 'resistance'
in some cases 'hatred' for the boys/gals in uniforms' of any kind or branch

we can & we should do much more,
at least we have a leader now that supports them, fully

especially for their ailments, mental issues
physical & nonphysical ailments

As much as the powers that be preach about there being no stigma to speaking up and asking for help there is still a stigma attached to it in many cases. it has a lot to do with the military culture of toughness and self reliance. I know I was fucked up but you never want to appear weak. Once I was examined I found out just HOW fucked up I really was. I couldn't believe it. I was shocked at how much capacity I had lost in my brain. 70% of my 100% rating is for TBI. I'm glad to speak up, and speak out, to tell my story if it helps even ONE trooper to get help. We are all brothers in arms, and sisters too. No way in hell I wanted to go down that road. If I had not, I might not be here right now writing this. GET HELP. Ghost.

I agree with the first part of your post but how can you stand by that remark that we have a leader that supports our troops. You must be watching something else from what I've seen, he's only in it for himself brother. I have completely lost all respect for the man when he passed on presenting the memorial wreath for a freakin trip to Japan of all places. Never has a POTHUS in history shunned this honor until now. Is that the actions of a Patriot? The actions of someone who honors and respects our fallen and the ultimate sacrifices that have been made? I think not. Seriously this guys been a con man all his life, never had to do a honest days work or serve in the Military for that matter. Wake up man your being lied to...again.

I just knew there would be a Trump hater to spew their crap. If any member has never served, you have no idea the BS we have to put up with these Govt. agencies we have to deal with. I can't even get a corrected 1099 from DFAS because of the negligent incompetence by these morons that done care for us Veterans! All they did was send a "Reissued" Copy! WTF?

69a100 I agree with you to a point. The system is in need of overhauling but can we trust the stooges in Washington to make it better? They can't even graduate 50% of the High school classes today and we expect them to make something work? The Veterans have shamefully gotten the shitty end of the stick for decades. The Veterans Admin. might as well be the DMV for all the good it does. Under staffed and under funded, they do what they can for the most part. Can we do better? Sure we can, but until this becomes a political platform it will stay status quo. To be clear, I'm not a Trump hater just a concerned American that sees us on a path that will only lead us into chaos and ultimately be the end of America as we know it. If we're not careful civil war will be the next thing we face, some people just want to watch the world burn... that brother is the real world we live in today.

I hear this stuff all the time, but my personal experience has been very good. So far, I have gotten very good treatment, everything I has asked for...... and then some. Maybe it's the region or district I'm in or something else, but I have no complaints.

My several brothers whom served experiences have also been quite good for normal stuff. A.lot of what the issue is I believe is the mental health stuff. It’s difficult enough in the private sector when a person has some money. THe Vet system and the military are ill prepared for dealing with the significant issues related to mental health. If you’re a millionaire or celebrity it’s one thing. A Vet has it much more difficult to get timely help from an overwhelmed, I’ll prepared system. This post would be too long if I described to you how I know it for a fact.

i never tried to get help from the V.A till this year.
my experience was, they were more interested in signing me up for this that and the other,
financial programs and i didnt ask for nor want their damm money.
thru it all, they didnt seem really concerned about me or my health.
i actually said directly to my case worker and the head of that section how i really Needed some medical attention at least 5 different times.
that was the only reason i went there in the first place,so i quit them and havent been back since.
i felt and was treated more like a number or a statistic than a human being.
in fact i never even heard back from my supposed assigned doctor after my xrays.

so ill just live with the pain and keep on rolling, like i always do.
if you are former service, listen at 1:40 onwards...that sums it all up for me.
i will never forget those who have gone before us.
a little pain is nothing compared to what they gave up.

Actually Trump visited Arlington and decorated some burial sites Iirc. But the lsm didn't show it of course. Sometimes things can't be arranged around the schedule you would like.

As for the OP Memorial Day isn't for honoring fallen veterans. Its for honoring those who fell in the line of duty.
Veterans Day is for honoring veterans living and dead.
Slight difference but meaningful.

my RED X explanation. In the grand scheme of things there has to be a set of priorities for a busy person. POTUS is the busiest person on the planet. I'm just guessing here but the conversation likely resembled the following: " So Mr. President, do we go to Japan and cement a multibillion dollar trade arrangement, make nice with the Emperor and Empress or do we lay a wreath?"
I too would have skipped the wreath laying. Some things are more important in the big picture of cementing trade deals around Asia in the wake of China's duplicity because companies are fleeing China and moving to those Asian countries. The deals need to be made now, not when they have more leverage. He can lay the wreath next year. The farmers of America are depending on him to get their crops sold to someone else since China isn't buying. He has a lot on his plate.
