Took my mom's 2002 Dakota to see family on Christmas day so we could haul a sofa table and still put people in the back seat.

There was a hot antifreeze smell, but temp ran OK.

When we got back, I noticed a damp spot under the fill neck.

I went to tighten the clamp and the plastic neck disintegrated.

A split second before I turned the screwdriver, I thought "man, it sure would suck to get scalded", and I turned my body sideways and looked away.

Could have been MUCH worse.

Felt like a mummy all week, and today most of the dead skin peeled off.

I HATE those plastic filler necks. I've seen more than one crumble like that.

I've got two aluminum ones on the way from Jegs.

Sorry about your mishap....good luck on a speedy recovery. :headbang:

Come close a couple times like that, but not as bad as yours. Have you put any ointment on it to keep the skin moist?

Ouch !!!

I hope you fell & get better soon

I feel, your pain Bro, been right there, even looks almost exactly the same as when it happened to me.

OUCH . . . burns are suppose to be the worse painful type of injury too . . . Get better soon !

Actually it never really hurt, after the initial blast of 250-ish degrees

I think I was more scared of what could be the result right after it happened.

Scarring, discoloration, loss of hair, that sort of thing.

So far, so good.

Keeping it moist with Neosporin, with the occasional wash and air out.

I had a relatively new age spot right about in the middle of it.

Looks like that's not there any more. COOL! Kinda' like a chemical peel.

Thanks for everyone's well wishes.

That makes me feel better about spending Christmas with metal lodged in my eye (got it removed today), glad it wasn't worse but that had to suck.

Ouch. Had a wood shaving in my eye about 10 years ago. Felt like a telephone pole.
I'm not real keen on stuff touching my eyeball, and the eye doctor visit was a bit tense.

Here's the arm yesterday morning-

MUCH better today.
