Ummmm...???? You have something more than a carb problem if you were only getting 2-5 mpg...EFI ain't going to fix everything...

Hey guys, I was wrong about my current MPG. When I had an edelbrock 600 cfm, I was getting 2.5 miles per gallon, and with the 500cfm edelbrock carburetor I'm getting 5-10 mpg. Part of why I really want to convert to EFI
stock ignition, new plugs, 14 degrees advance, tires have a 24.2" diameter.Man sounds like you have more problems than just a carb...I had a 390 Ford that was pretty healthy and I got 10 mpg and those old FE's were never designed for fuel economy I think they came from the factory only getting 11-12 mph...
If you list a few more details I'm sure someone here can get you on the right path... What gear/ tire combo are you running?
Sorry I missed the 2.71 gear reference... Is every plug hitting? fouled? What kind of ignition are you running?
Ok I'll do that.First thing I would do is pull every plug, they will tell you a lot about what's going on...lay them out in order and post it here...
The old ones are over 20 years old and have been long gone. These plugs are as fresh as the engine. So I'm guessing those were just installed? They look as if they just came out of the box....if that's the case do you happen to have the old ones?

I might even make an installation video if anybody requests one.Good choice my man. I look foreword to your review once you get it on and running

Motor only has 1,200 approximate miles since I rebuilt it. When I first ran the engine, it was running too rich. I put a smaller carburetor on temporarily and replaced the plugs. No more "peppered" look on the plugs.Your burning oil there. got some peppering on the porceline too. high mileage motor no doubt. So dont raise your expectations to high.
