What's it Worth Looking to buy this Super Bee... would appreciate input.

I've seen that one, thanks. I'm partial to '69s but I will definitely take a look at that one.

we all like what we like.. i'm just not a fan of purple.. i'm not a numbers guy either though.. paint it flip flop gold/blue if it makes ya happy :)
If they just painted it the damn color it was supposed to be,, I'd be happy. The custom 70's paint jobs are over lol

1969 model year...check
Turn key and drive away...no projects...check
4 speed manual? Will your wife drive it?
Aftermarket air conditioning?
383, 426, or 440?
Prefer Ramcharger hood, but not required?
Prefer numbers matching, but not required?
Prefer disc brakes?
Prefer Super Bee, but what about R/T or 500?
Prefer green, but what other colors?
Prefer which exterior/interior color combos?
DeltaV,

Thanks. I would prefer a turn key driver Bee or a somewhat near complete project. The big thing for me is the body and undercarriage. I'm not a body guy. The undercarriage doesn't have to be perfect, just nice, drivable, something that doesn't require a ton of effort, and something that will last. I can sand, rustproof, prep, spray undercoating (properly), etc. The body doesn't need to be perfect either. Decent paint would be nice, minor dings, etc. are fine. The mechanical stuff I have ho problem with. I plan on using this car.

AC- could take it or leave it
Any bib block engine - this will likely be modified / changed, etc. Hemi is WAY out of my price range
Prefer RC hood but definitely not required
Don't need numbers matching
Disc brakes - could take it or leave it.
Prefer Super Bee BUT am trying to persuade my finance director for an RT. For now, let's keep it "Bee"
Most colors are ok. Beggars can't be choosers :)
Any interior color combo.

At the end of the day, if I were to find one with a great body, frame, and undercarriage with decent paint, even NO engine, trans or rear, that would probably be fine, as well. However, it's always nice to have those things already. Like that purple one above - if that were a '69, with the shape it's in, as long as the body and undercarriage are not like the one I showed you guys and it appeared that time and care were put into it, that would be great. I have no problem replacing trim and all that kind of thing. OH.. and I just signed up for the Bring a Trailer notifications. Hope that helps.

Thanks again,
Mikey

Hey all,

Greetings from NorCal again. First off, a big thank you to all of you who have guided me and provided input this far in my search for a Super Bee. So after reading a bunch here and looking at 3 Bees and coming down to really 2, this is the one that is in the lead at the moment. I was hoping you who know far more than I could give it a look and see if it's a fair deal. I would ask a few k less but I think the body looks killer. Under the hood needs a few things like a fan shroud, maybe some mild clean up. The undercarriage looks like it's been well cared for, maybe some spray paint but no major rust or issues I can see but not sure what's up with the weird anomaly on the pinch seams. I've spoken and emailed with homie at the dealer and the story is it was a frame off resto about 10 years back. Since then it's been sold to the present owner. Reportedly has about 4-5k on it since the resto and engine, trans, diffy, and suspension have been gone through. I don't need a perfect car and for the price, this seems to me to be a fair deal. And I figure I would likely need about 5-8k to make it how I'd like it and fix any of the "little" things that need attention. Thoughts, input, opinions appreciated.

1969 Dodge Super Bee - LOU3093

Thanks much,
Mikey
Buyer beware....I have never heard anything good about Gateway Cars......only sob stories after the fact/purchase.

:xscuseless:

This is potentially how this car looked not long ago.....

Another Gateway car going for a 'spit and polish' ......

20 cash. That will give you enough room to fix all of the things wrong with it. Otherwise let someone else go underwater in it.

Shortly after I bought Baby Blue back in 2013, the '69 GTX I'd owned in the 90s came up on Gateway's site. The car was an extremely well maintained, original sheet metal, original interior, numbers matching, 22 years with the original owner. It was nice, but not perfect, one of the better examples I've seen them market. However, it was priced at double what I'd recently paid for Baby Blue. It didn't sell. It's still floating around the Detroit area. VIN is RS23L9A215848. One of the nicer GTXs around in many ways, a truly good driver. I'm assuming the current owner was testing the market, and decided to hang tight.

Personally, I’d stay away from Gateway…it’s a business and they’re pushing iron for profit, not that thats a sin, but I think you’ll find better examples through a private sale.

Kind of like the equivalent of a puppy mill for cars…my $0.02. Your mileage may vary…

I'm not defending Gateway, but I don't mind dealers if they are upfront and bringing value in assessment and legitimate representation. Never dealt with Southern Motors or Maple Motors, but these dealers are at the opposite of the price spectrum and both seem to bend over backwards to accurately present the car.
If that Gateway Super Bee was in the 40s I'd probably take a gamble and buy it.

Given the " flexibilities" you are giving in the condition of the car you could buy, I think you can find one in this condition for less. My personal curiosity is about the 1000 miles since resto? Where did all that rust underneath come from? It's not severe but I guess it was left outdoors? Maybe their idea of a " frame off restoration" means spray paint the underside? Sketchy at best!

“Showing the attention to detail is of the highest quality on this restoration”? Where can one find this attention to detail?

I wonder if that rocker rust could be because the car was in a flood? Although the rest of the underside really doesn't look like that was the case.

As others have said, "Chevy guy did some work on this car". Besides the fact the "Bee" decals are backwards and misplaced, cardboard and duct tape on shroud, suspect body work, as has been pointed out previously by others, the exhaust tips on this car are not Dodge tips. Also I don't think anyone mentioned the torn carpet on the passenger side. Just many little things and a few bigger things as well that should be taken into account. All combined, it would really make me concerned about the expertise of whomever did the work on this car and what all is hidden from view that is going to bite you later on. FWIW.
