Lucy; 1968 Coronet 440

(1) of (2) lower rockers needing replacement. All kinds of prizes on the inside when it was opened up.

I was on the fence for the replacement. Weldin* the panel was not the issue but welding without warping was. I researched the panel. Adhesive option and am more than pleased how it turned out. The theme is your replacement panel is 1.25” bigger than the torn out hole. This gives a bonding flange for the adhesive. I busted it right on a body line so it would be easy to blend. I decided to use screws instead of clamps to hold the panel during curing and then come back and tack weld those holes. Bonded, welded, grind, and it is ready for body filler to blend. It is tight and I am happy with it.

Going off the reservation here. Color matched bumpers inbound.

Cluster pulled. Dakota Digital will be the choice for some upgrades.

Pinning for the record. 850-900 hours on this level of effort. Body work will smoke some hours.

You know it is serious when you are in the car wiring with both the book and meter in hand. So far all of the magic smoke has been contained.

One upgraded cluster in the rear view. A little more than I anticipated.

Flashback to Day 1. Knew it was a mountain to climb, but looking at the starting platform vs some of the other members efforts; I think I got it easy.

One hood at final paint. Not exactly how I intended to get there, but it may work. “Final” only means, until I get back over to that if I do not like it.

This is coming along quite nicely!

Did you have the motor sent out to be freshened, or did you buy it direct? Is the front from CVF?

Looks great!!

Yes, CVF due to lack of options. I don’t necessarily need the shine, but 440 Source does not support A/C. My 16 yr back side still remembers no a/c in my first car (67’ Mustang) and walking into stores with a wet spot from mid back to mid thigh. That is a no go in GA for me. Again, the right combo of pulleys will solve the issue but I am 60 days from when I need to be done. Time is not on my side.

Motor. Went to Carolina Machine in I think South Carolina. They have way to much work to handle, and turn wrenches vs pushing a bunch of advertising. I am more than ready to put fire in the hole but I need a tranny dropped. What they delivered, with dyno paperwork, is what I paid for. This is the best response I can give until next month when hopefully I have a running car.

In GA here. It won’t stop raining. It is really hurting body work and paint. I think we have been above 90% humidity for 6 weeks. That means put something else together.
Dash cluster 100% including a function check. Radio, speakers, woofers, package tray, amp, wiring and function check.
2nd qtr sub panel complete, Xmat in the trunk and partial in the cab. Rear seats test fitted. Door interiors 100% with dynamat. Remote mirror had (1) broken cable now repaired. Rear interior panels at dynomat.
Ignition 1, ignition 2, alternator, distributor, and starter circuits all function tested and should be ready to roll.

Rolled the dice with 30% chance of rain. Got lucky. (2) color matched bumpers and the inside of the trunk lid final paint. Blue canopy makes things look weird. Q1.
