I have a 69 GTX that a purchased as an incomplete project. The 440 has been professionally rebuilt by previous owner and remains pretty stock, no performance mods from what I was told. The project came with many parts to complete the car to include a Mancini Pro Billet distributor and an MSD 6AL box. Knowing that I already have these items in hand, are they a good option to install? Or should I be looking at something else as an alternative? Is there any info out there on exactly how to wire up these into my stock GTX? Obviously some significant changes to factory ignition items, so I figure someone has gone this route and may have some knowledge I could use. I did search the forums and not finding much on actually wiring in the 6AL box.

The destruction that are in the box might be a good start... :)

Only deal is that you have to tie the wires that feed the ballast resistor together so the box is switched on in both start and run key modes. Some leave the balast and run a single wire to the msd small red wire.

The MSD and distributor are fine if you don't care about originality. Some will bitch about the lack of vacuum advance, it helps fuel economy.
If the distributor uses a bushing, put the 18* on it and it should run pretty decent with 16 initial and 34 total as a starting point.

Just my 2 cents

Run it !! You can hide the MSD box under the dashbehind the ash tray but no point if using a non stock distributor. But I'd go with both of those any day of the week.

The distributor is probably "plug and play" with the MSD. Instructions are a good place to start! Available on line if you don't have them. Google is your buddy !!

After adding a 6AL my 440 started easier and idled better/cleaner. Since you already have one, you might as well use it. The Mancini pro billet distributor is said to be the same as a MSB pro billet so installation should be pretty straightforward. I pulled out my spare 6AL and this is the wiring diagram instructions for a “ready to run” distributor.

You will need to eliminate the ballast resistor, for simplicity and to maintain a stock appearance I simply gutted a stock ballast and soldered in a wire between the terminals so the ignition circuit has a full 12 volts at all times. The wire that originally went to the coil+ terminal will become the keyed 12V in the above diagram. Depending upon where you choose to mount the MSD box, some of the wiring may have to be extended. Mine is mounted on the front passenger side of the core support so I made a harness for the heavy red and black wires and extended the 12v + feed wire in the stock harness.
