Mandated kill switch?

Anyone ever watch "The Terminator"?

So what if your vehicle kill switch is activated on say... the New York State Thruway and you get run over by a semi?

Maybe Uncle Tony is right. We should keep our points ignition.

Just tell the dealer to deactivate the kill switch feature! Or you're not buying it. Period! LOL!

I remember years ago they came up with a "zapper" that the police could aim at a car and it would shut down the computer system. Well that didn't go over too well as the driver looses control without power brakes and steering. I haven't heard anymore about it.

This technology they are talking about now could also be very dangerous.

I brought this up a week after it passed.
A lot of people dismissed it as fake news. People don't want to admit they were wrong during the last political cycle, they would rather eat this than their own words.

We are getting exactly what "we" wanted. No one will stop it, this is the future.

LOL, motorcycles.
As if motorcycles won't be outlawed 5 years into this. No one will make an EV motorcycle, well, an affordable, decent one anyway and gasoline will be outlawed, so they will take care of themselves soon enough.

With this and only digital currency what could go wrong…. It’s about control. Covid was just a test run.

I'll clear this up quick and get it toasted probably at the same time. Is Joe installing this on his Vette collection??

Have any cars built without 5 MPH crash bumpers been outlawed?
Have any cars built without anti-lock brakes been outlawed?
Have any cars built without crumple zones been outlawed?
Have any cars built without seat belt warning interlocks been outlawed?
Have any cars built without head restraints been outlawed?
Have any cars built without shoulder belts been outlawed?
Have any cars built without 4 way flashers been outlawed?
Have any cars built without dual master cylinders been outlawed?
Have any cars built without seat belts been outlawed?
Have any cars built without rear view mirrors been outlawed?

IIRC all of those things have been mandated on new cars.

What if insurance companies refuse to offer a policy? Or if it is prohibitively expensive?

I’m sure the Porsche guys will be OK.

They outlawed ICE powered everything. So the short answer to all of those is no, but the longer answer is "wait 9 more years". Soon to be 8 more years.
My old fleet of crusteez should last the rest of my life.
IF I can keep them fixed,
IF I can get parts
IF I can afford the insurance premiums
IF I can find a place to buy gasoline.

10 years seems so far away. How long ago was ten years in the past for you? My boy just graduated high school 2 years ago, 8 years ago. If you catch my meaning.

Key words are "in all new cars built"
by 2025 - mandated by 2026

I won't be buying any more new cars
I still drive my 99 Dakota SLT 4x4 with only 60k miles on it
& the newish Gladiator Rubicon Launch Edition it only has 12k miles
at this rate, so I won't be buying any new cars for some time,
if ever again
if I do it will be used car market & not anything new
& prior to 2025

stupid people voted for stupid politicians, that push this unconstitutional BS
you get what you voted for or what the people counting "their votes want"

Most all safety features required by
FMVSS and NHTSA are driven by
insurance companies and by federal
regulations once defined. Bypass any
safety feature and try to collect on a
death benifit payout after an accident
with any of these features disabled/
omitted. It just gives them fuel to not
pay up. Drive in the rain with no wipers,
run over a pedestrian in a crosswalk
who's crossing on a red....your fault.
States set regulations of their own for
a number of equipment requirements.
Rear and side view mirrors for
example. Most state a vehicle must
have dual driver and passenger mirrors
on the doors if your rearward view is
blocked (ie; Towing a trailer, or a load
in a truck bed).
Most of the infractions are picked up
by LEO'S during traffic stops/
accidents, and insurance companies
pay very close attention to what's on
those reports.
