Memorial day is very simply, a day to remember those who have paid the ultimate price while serving this great nation.
If you choose to honor them and all veterans, that's your thing and you are more than welcome to do so. It's hard for some to separate the fallen from the rest of us who remain standing but in the end, if you remember them, that's the point.
I don't care of you visit a veterans cemetery and and have a shot with a fallen friend, family member, spouse, or someone whom you do not know. Maybe you'll have a huge party on a long weekend with all of your friends and family close by. Maybe you'll go fishing or hiking. Again, doesn't matter...
What matters, and what I ask each and every one of you, is to simply take a moment and reflect on the fallen as well as those who were affected by it.
I know the day is past, but there is no statue of limitations on these things and so when you are enjoying the time off, please, take a moment, look around at what you have, bow your head and say a silent, reverent, thank you to those men and women who gave all to preserve it.
Semper Fidelis....
