Missed a hole or two

Looks like we overlooked this hood latch mount. Amd didn’t provide mounting holes here for the guide. Can anyone tell me a measurement of how far back this gets mounted? And the type of fasteners? I would think to just place it where it get the most action but better to ask then regret. Also worried about punching through the hood right after a fresh paint

Can't help on the measurements but a piece of stiff fuel line over the bit makes a good stop.
 
Here are a couple pics of my 68 Charger. Holes are 3/4" apart and I believe 3/16" then tapped with a 10-24 tap. The screws are 10-24 thread by 5/8" long
You could probably get by with a couple metal screws. Just do like 67 Coronet said.....and don't go too deep with the drill bit or tap. They are centered in the area where you are holding the bracket.
