Most embarrassing track moment?

I was bored one Wednesday night and decided to take my daily driver Ram pickup to Raceway park and get a couple passes in. So I loaded up the family (wife and 3 kids) and drove an hour to the track. At some point while in the staging lanes, I had this great idea that in order to "Make the truck lighter" I decided to take out my daughters car seat....Yea the truck weighs 6000 pounds. So I took out the car seat and left it on a picnic table by the concession stand for awhile. Problem is when I went back to get it, it was gone, someone had stolen my daughters car seat. What made it bad was not only was this car seat somewhat sentimental (as in all 3 of my kids used it) but I had to tell my wife our daughter didn't have a car seat for the ride home. The worse part was having to explain why I took it out. Women just don't understand...
But did the truck pickup better time? Lol. Terrible story. Love it.

Was at Ct dragway there was an announcement from the tower that said whoever stolen 2 tires better return them. Then said if they aren't returned every car or truck leaving will be checked. They came back.

At Sacramento test & tune, driving my 23 Altered
it had a 301ci SBC injected on alcohol,
doing a low 8 second pass,
the oil fill hole in the front of the old Pete Jackson FI manifold
I had a expandable freeze plug in the hole to block it off
at 8.30 @ 140 something MPH it came out & nearly
all 12 qts of Kendal Nitro 70wt
(vacuum of 140mph air, going over the hole, drew almost all the oil out back onto me)
came right back at me blinding me covered my goggles
luckily I was really use to the car,
I just reached over pulled the parachute handle on my cage
tried to make sure & keep it straight, grabbed a crap load of handbrake
seemed like forever to come to a stop, while blinded by the oil
kind of hopped to a stop...
(thinking I was at the end of the track, I was nowhere near it)

I was afraid fire was next, I got out pretty damn quick
pulled the goggles off, to my amazement, I was barely passed the finish line
a bunch of my buddies where coming down the return road
'laughing their asses off', saying it was a hopping M-fer
& I was out of the car quicker than ****, said everyone saw the green cloud too...

I did another boner at the track
IIRC it was at Fremont, IIRC it was in my 27 T altered
Blown Inj. BBC on alky, 7.90 S/E car (Northern Nationals IIRC)
I forgot to re-hook back up my rear puke tank hoses
after servicing the car in the pits
&
when I launched, it puked all the leftover crap
in the lower frame rails that were routed to the puke tank
all over the starting line, screwed that lane for the rest of the day...

I was none for the worse but people behind me were pissed
there was a lot more residual oil/crap in that bottom rail
alcohol diluted greenish yellowish baby-**** looking crap,
that you'd ever think there would be, in a 1-3/4" tube...

It was pretty humiliating, my buds didn't let me forget it either...:BangHead:

:bananadance:I did win the round thou
almost a perfect 7.901, I rarely was that close...

Those are the worst. If the track takes it. I lined my 10 sec Duster up last year. Car with new motor build. Sounding and feeling good. I let loose the 2 step and then a big bang and went no where. The starter looked under and said "Nothing looks leaking." I then knew it had to be driveshaft. Snapped front yoke. (So motor was feeling good) Although I was a little disappointed that was not able to see performance increase of the new build. I was more releaved that I at least didn't ruin anyone else's morning. New driveshaft a little beefier for this year's attempt.

And because I didn't mess up the track. The track boys were much nicer. Very helpful in assisting getting car back to pit. And even gave a hand getting into trailer. I'm betting had it been tranny fluid all over? There mood would have been a little different?
