Moving to Texas

A friend of mine moved from Florida to Tennessee. I guess the cold weather is too much for him. So he wants to move back to Florida. I think he's going to have difficulty finding something affordable. As 900 people move to Florida every day. Which is crazy!

Bad enough trying to get away from a hurricane in Texas but in Florida you got one way out if you go by car.....screw that.

And here is the guy doing anything he can to get out during the ice storm in Texas

I’m not blaming truckers, I’m pointing out they are the biggest treason for traffic jams during the winter weather. They can’t make it up the hills, and clog the highway.

Here’s channel 8 showing jeeps getting semis out of the way, yes that’s right, getting the semis out of the way. The North Texas jeep club is one of the many great things about Texas, when there’s natural disasters, we don’t wait on the government, we don’t wait on someone else, we help each other. These guys anytime there’s ice, they’re pulling people out, delivering meals and medicines to people that need it, offering rides if they need to

sort of the offroaders & Jeep or 4x4/4wd clubs mentality

Yes, jeep club, 4x4 mentality. And really any human mentality, or should be

This last ice storm had us in the house for 3 1/2 days! It all finally melted this past Sunday but I have a couple spots in the shade that haven’t melted.

I need an electric locker for the front of my truck, period! The dirt is so soft that my daughter accidentally fell through the melting ice as she stepped on it it and her foot went in about 8 inches deep. Hell, she only weighs about buck o five soaking wet!

My dream of having a shop has come to fruition. My neighbor across the street builds shops, metal fences and does dirt work. I’ve shopped around, got some quotes and he gave me a quote of $25K…that included the concrete work that he farms out. I already had a contractor for the concrete and so he quoted me $17,500 for the shop. I said that was a bit much and that I’d need to think that over.

So I’m building a fence, setting landscaping posts in concrete and my other neighbor that moved from…..guess where? That’s right, Commiefornia! He said that our neighbor built built his shop and I should come by and check it out. Turns out that Ricky does some damn nice work! I was impressed to say the least.

Then I get later on that day from Ricky, saying he could do the shop for $12k. I told him that I have $10k for a shop (we already discussed the size from the quote he gave earlier) and he said “let’s do it”!

The $10k wasn’t trying to get a lower price, that’s what I have for the shop, 22x24x12. I had budgeted $19k for concrete and the shop and concrete was $8500.

Today they started at 9:30am and stopped at 7:30pm. They have some trim and rain gutters to install and the roll up door will be installed Monday. It’s not the biggest shop, however, it’s what I need/want to get back to Moparing!!

Here’s a couple pics of the shop from earlier today and the fence I’m working on.

I’m keeping an eye out for a wood burning stove and I’ll get a portable ac unit. I had to leave the ac unit I had cause I ran out of room packing our stuff.

Kern is looking at properties in Arizona cause his wife’s family is around there.

I would have strapped that AC unit on the roof of my truck if I had to! :)
