My 68 Charger - A Work In Progress

Picked up 2 NOS GE 1157A turn signal bulbs.

Left are the NOS, Right are the ones I took out which were GE 1034A & a GE 1157A. The 1034A must have been orig. from the factory as the 1157A replaced them.

I had purchased a new 1157NA bulb as I'm having an issue with the turn signal lighting up ,see electrical section.

Haven't done much lately but saw these nice gems & thought they'd look nice with my collection.

What I noticed is that the PP1 is more spot on in color on the one I bought vs the revised 2/69 chart, which is a darker shade

Last of my orders came in, I still think he PP1 is too dark.

Been a while since I did any work on my car but recently removed the old shocks as well as the race pan.

Went back to the stock 402 oil pan. Old shocks read: Monro-Matic, Made In USA 2033 CO12B73 / 2033. Anyway to tell the date on the old shocks?

I'll be selling the oil pan, dipstick, pickup as well as the bolts. Gotta figure out a value on it.

Little project today after a cruise. Pulled the hood/cowl weather stripping. Someone back in the day had painted it. Stripped the paint off & was happy to see the part & supplier number, which makes me believe this has been on the car since it left the factory.

Began removing the black paint on the firewall. After a few different tries with various chemicals, Lacquer thinner was the winner. Discovered there was a respray of Red on top of the original red paint then the Black.

More detail here: Firewall Paint Removal

Spent a wet raw dreary rainy day in the garage tackling the other side of the firewall. As the area is much tighter to work in, used a small spray bottle with lacquer thinner in it. Really worked out well to spray/soak the black paint & continued to use my Dremel brass wire brush to scuff off the black thick paint.

Pretty much have it all done but have some areas to touch up and hopefully will be sunny next weekend so I can work outside & wash the engine bay down to clean it all up & then shine up the firewall.

You have great patience and meticulous skills!

Thanks! I'm definitely no expert but I have fun. I learned a lot from all of you guys here.

Little project today to get the booster painted.

Installed the OEM style Voltage regulator tonight and went for a test drive. Bought the VR thru Mega Parts & as it did not come with the U shaped cover that's on the FLD side made one myself.

Big shout out to Tommy White at Parts Hound!

I had reached out to Tommy White @ Parts Hound | Mopar Muscle Car Parts | Ebay Vintage Car Parts and while they do not have the OEM style they have the same one that Nacho-RT74 suggested. I ordered 3 of them and they're shipping tomorrow. Great guy & service!

In my below thread you can read my search for an OEM style Flag Terminal.

As I'm a printer & a buddy of mine has created stickers for his Oil filters, thought I'd give it a try. Came out great. Got a spare WIX filter to test on so that I'm all set for my next oil change next year.

Was able to get it done on my filter still on the car, seeing I changed the oil over the winter.

Here's my thread of how I did it: Correct Oil Filter For 68 Charger

Took my car out for a long drive today & the sticker is holding up very well. So far, no pealing, bubbling..etc...

Busy day (8hrs+) today as I'm getting ready to go to a show close to my house tomorrow. Installed the back seat jute, seat adjuster knob on the passenger side & under hood wiring clips I got from Mega Parts.

Also installed a NOS bench seat belt clip. Spray painted the wiper motor with Testors Gold Flake paint which matches very close to Yellow Zinc Chromate & coated the wiring area with Red Insulating Varnish.

Vacuumed & power washed the car & then took it out for a drive.
