My new stock stroke 400 build

Thinking back.. I put together a 383/estreet head/comp steel roller rockers and ended up getting a 70-74 Cleveland pushrod. Worked out great.

I installed my checking springs and did more checking today. I set the adjusters to one turn and reset the pushrod length. It will probably be closer to 8.450, but I will let them measure exactly tomorrow. While I had the checking springs on, I rotated the engine through a complete cycle and was happy to see that even with the 3/8 checking pushrods, there was no interference with the heads. I was concerned because of the 1.6 rocker ratio.

While I had the spring compressor out I decided to remove all of the valve springs. I was really pleased with the factory finishing work in the bowls, nothing to be gained there! I planned on lapping the valves myself, but I noticed several intake valves which seemed tight to me, so I will let the machine shop go through them.
