My new to me 64 Polara

I got a charge of Jeff the other day. He told me the wood grain wheel on the wing car is not original. It is a new one he bought at the dealer probably a dozen wing cars ago. He swaps it out and when he sells the car, he takes the wheel off for the next car.. Love it.

well... see.... if i had known that 30 years ago.... wtf.... bang bang... chip...
Like this, Not mine but I just bought an aluminum jack like it.

@Dave6T4 I have a question. I stopped and got a bulb for my trunk light and put it in but it didn't work. I see now the light looks like it was added in and spliced to the harness that runs along the drivers side by the left hinge. It works with the tail lights on. I don't think they are supposed to work that way but I have to ask. A live 12v. wire back there would only be for one reason and that would be for a trunk light. According to the manual, I should be looking for a pink wire.

I went over and got my Polara out of the garage and brought it over. I wanted to put in a few plastic floor pan plugs. I replaced the 2 in the trunk drops with the ones with the drain. I had one missing in the RR foot well. Of course to get to it I had to pull the back seat bottom, window cranks and pull the carpet up a bit. Good thing I did because the seat had to be out to put on my new inner and outer sill plates. Things went pretty smooth. I was able to reattach the front kick panels as well. The images aren't all that good but it's nice to open the door and see shiny trim.

Nice and clean floor. It is pretty solid for being in the SW all it's life.

Look at this old crusty trim. There wasn't any inner trim in the car.

The trunk light should not be wired to the tail lights. There should be a tab welded off the trunk weatherseal gutter that a dome light switch (like the ones in your door jamb) screws into. The thread into the tab acts as a ground, and a single wire would plug into your door switch harness, or other 12V. source.

Thanks, I thought so. I have the switch and the socket and factory wiring. The previous owner just hooked it into a tail light wire instead of a 12v feed wire. I wonder if the harness doesn't have that feed wire in the trunk because the car didn't come with or was built to not have a light.

Man, this car is testing me. I am trying to release the terminals out of the terminal block at the bottom of the steering column to get the turn signal switch out. I have tried a release tool, a pocket screwdriver, and a o ring pick and I can't get the terminal tab to release. It looks like you have to release it from the wire end. I don't want to mess the thing up but I'm about ready to snip the wires and butt connect them back together.

I like to use a tiny eyeglass screwdriver. It seems to slip in there pretty well and release the tab.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. What I have tried so far doesn't work at all.

Are there 2 tabs? If so, cut a paper clip so it's "U" shaped, and then push down on each side to release. It worked for my 65 Belvedere.

It looks like just 1 tab. see the second photo.

I think there are 2 tabs. I did get 1 released

I got them. There are 2 tabs on the sides of the terminal I had to modify the release tool but I got them out. Dirty little devils!

Thanks, there was 2 tabs, One on each side. The release tool goes in on the connector side.
