I have seen a few good sized vendors bail out on the big shows. They can make more money by staying home and selling online..Yeah, he's not a spring chicken any more. He's even older than me!
One vendor I know talked about how much it cost him to vend at the Nats or Carlisle. Thousands of dollars invested and you have to sell a lot of re-pop screw kits and radio knobs to make up that cost. 3 trucks with enclosed trailers, lot's of fuel, a week's lodging for 4-6 people. Food for 4-6, rent a huge tent, side curtains are extra, Vender booth spaces, (they usually rent 6-8), and all the set up and tear down. Oh, at least 2 days to pull the merchandise and pack it before you leave and then put it away when you get back home. Nuff said.I have seen a few good sized vendors bail out on the big shows.
